I don't buy into Power Rankings until at least week 8. But some things never ever change about pre-season power rankings. The defending super bowl champs rarely default to the top of the list unless they're juggernauts. Dallas always sneaks up about 10 spots no matter what they do because no matter what they do it involves spending a lot of money and making a lot of commotion about it. San Diego always sneaks up a few spots because they typically finish the regular season strong and everyone forgets about the first 9 weeks of the season where all they did was argue with eachother and blow winable games. One team is always the sports journalists "sexy" pick to storm into the top of the league with a collection of exciting young players that are "finally gonna come into their own" this year. A few years ago it was the 49ers. Now it's the Jets. For every improvement the Jets have made they've set themselves back. Dumping their 2 best running backs in favor of LaDanian Tomlinson, and a 3rd round pick? Give me a break. Kyle Wilson sucks. Cromartie sucks. Sanchez sucks. I'm actually surprised to see that the Patriots and the Eagles aren't the pick for the superbowl matchup for like the 5th year in a row. Atlanta looked like a smart pick for top 10 consideration after Matt Ryan's first season, but then their defense revealed itself as being awful, and the reality that they burnt out Michael Turner came to light. And what the hell have the Packers done to warrant top 10 consideration? 3 teams separate them from the Vikings, who they couldn't even pretend to compete with in either of their matchups last season. Fuckin Pre-season power rankings. How do they work?
