Because we've got so many fundamentalist Muslim politicians in our government infringing on our freedoms... Oh wait, there aren't any! Sure if there were fundamentalists Muslim politicians advocating for laws that would take away the rights of women, gays, etc, it would make sense to speak out against their ideology more. But all the people doing that in the US government, the country where I live, pander to Christian voters. If being against "islamofascism" drives you into some other kind of fascism you are just being played by reactionaries that want to take away your freedoms. There are anti-Islam metal bands in Islamic countries. In those countries that makes sense because that is the driving force in their cultural world. But if those bands were to sing anti Christian songs, that would be stupid because they would just be reflecting the already existing bias within their own culture. If you reverse the scenario the same is true here if you were to have a band that railed against Islam in a country where the majority of Americans have some negative feelings towards Islam. It makes more sense to rail against the ideas that are actually gaining real power in this country: the far right (with the help of Christianity), and communism (on the left). Those are the real threats to our freedom in this country. Not Islam. It is far too much of a fringe group and minority to have any real political power in the USA.
