I thought the show was really good overall. It was a long night, but the bands did a good job of keeping set changes short. The energy was high, and the eclectic crowd did a good job keeping out of each others way, and everyone seemed to have a really good time. Sex Positions: personally, i love this band. they are probably the strangest band in hardcore right now. this includes their music, and thier manorisms. the guitarrist kept taking excessive time in between songs to tune. the songs sounded good, but they are just a strange group of individuals. Backstabbers Inc.: i havent seen these guys in years, and i wasnt sure how i felt about them. they played a couple songs off the while you were sleeping album. the energy was high on stage, and the music was really tight. it was a considerably short set, but i thought i was a good performance. The Cused: this band was insane. the singer is about five feet tall, and could have kicked anybody's ass in that room. he spent half the set on the floor throwing people around the pit. he sang half a song lying on the ground in the middle of the pit. the songs sounded great, and the whole band had great energy. they were forced to use most of converge's equipment, something about problems at the border (they are from canada). this was also thier first U.S. show, so that only added to the excitement. 16: i liked this band like i enjoy scissorfight. i love them. simple guitar parts, simple music. lots of repetition. catchy stuff. maybe they played for a little too long, but i enjoyed them nonetheless. Converge: i thought this was a pretty sick set. ive seen them probably ten times, and this was as good as any. they do seem to have much larger egos now, but its only to be expected. they played for at least 45 minutes, and put on a hell of a show. the set included the usual arrangement of songs, plus a few out of the ordinary tunes. the second most big surprise of the night was ending the set with Jane Doe. The number one surprise of the evening was when Stephen Brodsky of Cave In got up to play a song on bass. it was surreal to say the least.
