I don't think they'll ever make an album that beats Evil Invaders or Executioner's Song. But I do also think that Bob Reid is a pretty solid replacement. In my opinion, Shotgun Justice, Open Hostility, and Decibels were all pretty fucking solid albums. OK, Decibels wasn't as good, but it was better than most of what was coming out in 1997. Shotgun Justice album has real drums though, and it rips. Decibels is weird, it's just so... Slow. Turns out there's a faster version floating around in the internet that's still in the same key, worth tracking down. |

Not to say that I don't like those albums, but they just don't hit as hard with me, the songs sound more "upbeat" for lack of a better word and have a bit more cheese than I'd like. By the time Violent Restitution came out they had gotten to be pretty much all business. For the vocals, Sheepdog had a better range, but Bob Reid definitely added a sinister edge to the band that hadn't been there before. I like 'em both but for different reasons. I also wonder what Shotgun Justice would sound like if it had the guitar tone of Open Hostility... that shit is unreal. |
