[QUOTE="xmikex:1244262"]Ah geez. I'm actually in the middle of a civilized email exchange between Draize and myself.... the first two emails have been civilized at least. So for now, at least, the gloves stay on and I'll give my timeline of events. A while back Tom Draize booked a show with some touring bands we were interested in playing in. Sean emailed him asking if we could play, and instead of a simple no thanks we got an explanation about after consulting with "the Boston underground punk rock hardcore scene" he came to the consensus that people would boycott the show if we played it. His reasoning was that we were "lyrically and conversationally offensive" to the degree that his constituency would rather miss the show entirely than just sit outside while we played. Sean's reply was along the lines of "Don't.you.think.you're.being.a.little.dramatic.bro?" There had been a point in time when our band had harbored the PC Police's most wanted. But since the one guy they actually had a problem with had been long gone from our band we felt as though we were owed an explanation. That explanation never came, as Draize blew off the email. Fast forward a few months and Jonah shows planetary sized balls and books us on a basement show with Ramming Speed. The PC community went up in arms over it. I visit the Lemmingtrail board and see the Democracy Center goons calling us a bunch of women hating monsters and pieces of shit. Various friends stood up for us with mixed results, but all in all they seemed appeased that certain people weren't in our band anymore. I went ahead and posted on buttdarttrail myself saying that I don't know/care what everyone's problem is, and that I'm willing to hear any lingering grievances. The show ruled. No problems. And as expected nobody had anything smart to say. We played with Disaster Strikes a few weeks later at another basement spot. This time I'm actually convinced that the drama is over with. Lo and behold, after the show I find out that a friend of ours walked into a roundtable discussion on what pieces of shit we are, sponsored by none other than the Democracy Center. She very politely tried to stand up for us, and was shouted down by a bunch of people who are supposed to respect women more than we do. Maybe Draize is/isn't the cause of all this (spoiler: he's not). But he works at a place where my girlfriend buys overpriced vegan ice cream and I've been having way too much fun making raspberry truffle jokes and intentionally misfiling the new Draize record into the world music section at Armageddon.
