Silly dildos, these idiots. Trees are a renewable resource (1 of the few). Managed logging/forestry is actually good for the environment, it promotes new growth, which provides food for a greater variety of animals. Obviously clear-cutting and leaving a mess on the forest floor, or abusively harvesting 300yo sequoias and redwoods is shitty, but with the right regulations, and responsible timber companies, logging is a GOOD THING.
depends on your philosophy, deep ecologists believe in the inherent rights of all things in nature. personally I seek a more moderate approach, I believe in sustainable none-habitat destroying timber harvesting. I think the ELF are mostly against people building million dollars homes in the middle of the mountains or huge ski resorts taking over once protected forests. Most of what they do is destroy construction sights of new cul-de-sac type developments in the northwest, where land is still wooded and very cheap.
