Sean, Over the past few years ITS has built it's self a reputation both lyrically and through conversation as a band that is pretty offensive. In booking shows over the years I have tried not to book bands that might put off members of the greater hardcore punk community. I've questioned some of my closest friends and they have said that they would not support this show if ITS was on the bill. So I am sorry, I don't feel I would be comfortable booking ITS on this show. Tom Draize
I write all the lyrics about stuff I see out my window, and stuff I saw growing up. I can not possibly imagine who that would offend, and no one has ever... EVER once approached me to ask me to explain myself. I consider myself a very reasonable compassionate human being, and I'm always willing to hear another side of the story. I think it's shameful that people in the "greater hardcore punk community" (lol) that pride themselves on sanctimonious tolerance, and acceptance have chosen this blind rivalry with us for the sake of having someone to dislike. Not to drag others into this, but just as an example we approached Disaster Strikes (a high profile, overtly PC band) about playing a show last year. They emailed back asking to see our lyrics before agreeing to play. They read over the lyrics to a handful of our songs (including Hey Girl... the song that sent ripples through the poser community), and said that they had no problem playing with us. Unfortunately, the show was later canceled. If "Tom Draize" thinks booking us will hurt his chances to run for class president, oh well. One less thing I have to do. But I really truly resent the childishness that has come from the Democracy Center kids in their relentless pursuit to perpetuate a rivalry that hinges completely on them. I defy, DEEEFYYYY, any one of them to do the simple, mature thing of approaching me at a show and engaging me in a talk where I might change their mind about some things, and they might change my mind about some things. It's a lot harder to do than gossiping like an 8th grade girl.
