Beer Question.[views:3753][posts:31]___________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 1:47pm - LPCustom ""] So literally the only beer I ever want to drink is Guinness. Is there such thing as a poor mans version of Guinness - or is it a one of a kind type of thing? Newb question, I know - but I'm quite interested. |

______________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 1:55pm - goatcatalyst ""] Yingling black and tans are cost effective and delicious when they can be had. |
________________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 1:56pm - josh_hates_you ""] Brew your own. |

___________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:03pm - ARKTOUROS ""] and what aril said. guinness is more like bland english pub beer (like boddington's) than a proper stout. |
________________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:04pm - DestroyYouAlot ""] Otter Creek makes a good one, I believe. |

_____________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:07pm - The_Rooster ""] Also, not sure if you get it east of NY, but Saranac just came out with a Stout that's supposed to be pretty tasty. Not sure if it's any less expensive though. Also, I don't see it often, but Sierra Nevada has a stout that is really tasty. I love Guiness myself, but there are def. some other excellent stouts out there. Porters are also good, but they bring teh sick. |

____________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:14pm - arilliusbm ""] I don't know ark. I love Guinness. Always have. I love all stouts but I'll crave a Guinness every now and then. It's also has a 80+ rating on rate beer, which is pretty high. I can see why you'd say it's watery foam.. In comparison to others. Youngs double chocolate stout ist krieg too. |
___________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:15pm - Slag NLI ""] There are plenty of other beers for you to try. If you've never puckered up to a porter, you're really missing out on flavor country. Plus, they are generally cheaper than stouts. With beer, (and anything for that matter) you get what you pay for. My current fav beer in bigger than lifesize fashion: Cost $1.65 for a big boy. Call me a fucking commie, I don't care. [img] |
___________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:16pm - ARKTOUROS ""] ^yeah, seriously, that beer is a whole meal for under $2 |
___________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:18pm - Slag NLI ""] Flavor Country Beers : anything from Southern Tier (particularly their Jahva and Chocolate stouts) Yeti Cask Aged Stout Old Rasputin (a hoppier more brutal stout) and about 50 others I can't think of right now. |
___________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:20pm - Slag NLI ""] Another price to performance ratio winner is: $2.65 I shit bricks every time I drink this fucker. Smooth, tasty, notes of warm hearthy grandmother baked bread and banana and you drink 4 and you are fucked. [img] |
___________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:21pm - Slag NLI ""] fuck, I guess I need a beer. |
____________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:29pm - arilliusbm ""] I should just take a pic of my shelves of beer |
__________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:31pm - brian_dc ""] I love Old Rasputin, but that is in no way a poor man's anything |
______________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:33pm - ark ""] well...it is when you only need 3 vs. clear-cutting an 18 pack. |
________________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:33pm - DestroyYouAlot ""] Guinness is a poor man's stout, if anything. |
________________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:34pm - DestroyYouAlot ""] Or at least a without-transportation-to-a-decent-liquor-store man's stout. |

___________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 2:48pm - LPCustom ""] By "poor man's Guinness" I was referring to a cheaper version. I am aware of other kinds but I was just kind of wondering if there was a cheap version that tastes like pretty damn close. Thanks for everyones input here too - I'll have to try these for sure. |

__________________________________________ [Apr 26,2010 6:35pm - largefreakatzero ""] Though I enjoy a Guinness or some fancy heavy brew here and there, I much prefer something I can drink fast and a lot of. Off the tap, I drink Stella, at home, Amstel Light (cans only). Alcoholism FTW. |
