I'm not going into a long-winded argument on this. I see so much generalizing in the argument over "Christian metal" or anything that is associated with Christianity. I believe that everything that is argued against Christianity or whathaveyou is based on the traditional, fundamentalist side of religion. You cannot lump everyone in that category seeing as how I'm vehemently anti-establishment and anti-fundamentalism. I also do not agree with Christianity as a political movement. THAT to me is disgusting and insulting, not a bunch of guys who believe in Jesus playing a style of music. I think elitists need to get the fuck over themselves and accept the fact that there are 2 different sides of the spectrum in Metal now. There is always going to be anger and socio-politicism and I do not think it's fair for people to say that you can only sing about what YOU think is acceptable in Metal. Musicians who write about Christianity are not always saying, "Oh praise the Lord" all the time. Impending Doom is an exception because of where they came from and how they are as people. I can show you "Christian bands" who write about darker subjects, including the agony of faith itself. Stop stereotyping.
Touche sir, but I think you missed a big part of my argument (and this is more than likely my fault for not communicating my ideas all that clearly) - metal is a counter-culture genre. By taking the genre and infusing it with mainstream ideas, you effectively compromise its credibility as anti-status-quo. If people want to do that, great for them, but I strongly disagree.
