What the title says. I've been playing this: LTD B155 through this: AMPEG SVT3 PRO into this: AMPEG CLASSIC 15" and a crap Carvin 15" cab for some time, nao. The super warm/hot punchy mids are there in spades, and I've tweaked it a whole bunch lately to where I was really happy with that part of the sound, but that really excessive growly overdrive just wasn't there until I hit on the idea of putting this: TECH21 SANSAMP BASS DRIVER DI in front of the amp. Drive close to full, presence backed off a bit, treble up a bit, bass backed off plenty, and tweak the blend to where the punch is there but backed up by the growl. WTF - totally psyched with the possibilties, here. I still need to tweak a bit before practice to find the right mix, but it sounds fucking gigantic, now. Chords are just mosntrous and warm, B-string play isn't rumbly and duck-fart-y, everything is lovely. PSYCHED. (To be fair, I just stole this from Alex Webster - saw that he was running a SansAmp in front of his SVT4 somewhere whilst trolling around trying to find a backup of the Bassists of Death forum, figured I'd try it. What I'm rocking now is pretty much a ghetto version of his setup. Which is just fine by me. Now just to find a cheap as free Ampeg 8x10. LOL)
