Total Recall Remake[views:14374][posts:62]_________________________________ [Feb 27,2009 9:18am - oscarct ""] UK, February 26, 2009 - Hollywood is setting the wheels in motion for yet another remake, with a Total Recall reboot apparently in the works. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Neal H. Moritz is developing the project for Columbia, with a view to using modern technology and state-of-the-art visual effects to tell the story in a fresh way. The original 1990 film was based on the futuristic book We Can Remember it for You Wholesale by Philip K. Dick and told the story of a man who buys the memory of a holiday to Mars which triggers an identity crisis that leads him to believe that reality may not be all it seems. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone starred, and the film was a global smash that grossed $261m. The big question is, who will play Kuato in the reboot? Moritz is fast becoming the remake king, with the The Green Hornet, 21 Jump Street and Flash Gordon all currently on the producer's slate. |

Ive seen no evidence that suggests that they plan on doing a flat out remake of the Schwarzenegger movie note for note or doing another adaptation of the original short story. I really dont think Philip K Dick wrote the story with the idea of seeing the Austrian Oak at the helm back in 1966, and Im sure he was spinning in his grave when he saw how goofy the movie turned out being. Yet ohh soo good >:] So who knows maybe their looking into modernizing the original story again, or maybe they've figured out a secret to re-making a Schwarzenegger hit more SchwarzeneggerER, without Schwarzenegger. That I would love to see. That newer Rambo movie definitely restored my faith in revamping the 80's/early 90's, especially considering how silly those movies were back then and how serious that newer one was. If this new total recall sucks Ill probably just start jerking off in the theatre while thinking about how good the original one was, or ill just ignore it like a bad joke and watch the old one again......... while jerking off to Mary.
