The money to buy that equipment doesn't come from nowhere ;) And, they always need to plan for the next piece of equipment -- probably in another two years. But to answer the unstated question: Yes, cooperation is better than bottom-up economic systems. Before you call me a commie, I don't think pure socialism is the answer. I am, however, a socialist -- just one that believes in social darwinism, traditional values and a cosmic purpose to human life.
