1. Fuck ya, give Cassel a chance. I hated that guy's guts for years. I nearly punched a hole in my living room wall when Belichick played him over Flutie in garbage time minutes in the 06 season. You would have thought I hated the Patriots by the shit that was coming out of my mouth when the Pats lined up for a 3rd and 12 on their own goal line. But when he aired it out to Moss and lead that drive down the field it was a big STFU to all the doubters. He's not Montana, but he's not the complete inept asshole we all thought he was. He's got a solid arm, decent accuracy, and if he can keep his head from creeping into his ass he can maybe keep us competitive. I say in the very least that TD pass to Moss earned him a second chance. 2. ESPN has been incredibly careful not to jump the gun with the Brady issue unlike Yahoo who broke the story based entirely on hearsay. All signs do point to the worst, but I think it's interesting that the most notoriously sensationalist sports news outfit has managed to be professional about this, while others haven't. 3. Chargers the team to beat? They'll start slow out of the Gate like last year. Then things will pick up, like last year. Then unlike last year Shawne Merriman will be in a wheelchair by week 8, Antonio Gates will be on and off the field with injuries, Norv Turner will have no answer for anything and their season will fall apart. 4. I know nothing should shock me at this point when it comes to how far ESPN has it's dick up Brett Favre's ass, but seriously HOW FAR DOES ESPN HAVE IT'S DICK UP BRETT FAVRE'S ASS? Favre is the quarterback to beat? The Jets are the new #1 team in the AFC east? First of all, you don't crown anybody the champ until you beat the champs. Injuries aside the Pats are the reigning kings of AFC east and nobody takes that title until they earn it. Second, did anybody at ESPN happen to catch that Buffalo/Seattle game? Buffalo had no business beating Seattle but they embarrassed them. They did a much better job making acquisitions in the offseason than the Jets, and they did it without setting their quarterback development back 10 years. I'll say the exact same thing about Miami. Third, what was Favre 13 for 22 or something? Yeah his passer rating is up because of those 2 touchdowns but one of them, as Joey Porter pointed out, was pure luck. His numbers were pedestrian. Face it. The last time Favre failed to crack 200 yards on opening day was 06. The Packers went 8-8 that season. Fourth, look at their leadership. Mangini mismanaged the clock, and put them in a position to almost lose a game to one of the worst teams in the league. Not to mention one of their most high profile veterans has been a complete asshole about every new acquisition they've made. And I don't buy Jacksonville either as a threat to the AFC title. 10 points against the Titans, and one of their starting offensive linemen fighting for his life? Give me a break.
