A lot of people say Metallica fell apart, I'll admit their last record St. Anger wasn't my favorite, but hey atleast they were doing something different... If most of these bands out today were as long as Metallica do you think they'd still be writing this death core mumble jumple? probably not. Metal is a very different genre with many different styles in one. Metallica just changed their style over the years... Not the best change, but if you can't write the same stuff anymore why try? Hopefully this next record is much better than the last few though.
Metallica did change ... when Burton died ... And Justice still carried Burton inspired riffs and music ... i did really enjoy their release of covers in Garage days rerevisited mainly the helpless cover ... they did a good job on that ... then Black began their commercial coming out album ... i listened to it a few times ... never really sat right with me but it was ok ... and then after that album they became trendy and you can hear the lost edge from then on
