Is telepathy required or will you divulge the make and model of said buzzy amp?

If its tube Id say first thing to do is check the tubes. Is it a buzz or a squeal? If tubes become microphonic, they do some strange shit.

If its solid state, then I cant help besides just running thru the x-nex and hopefully finding a loose connection.

Its a Mesa Boogie single rectoverb. I've switched out the tubes, changed cables, guitars, checked connections, switched cabs, speaker cables, and I can't think of anything else. It's been working fine for a long time, and then of course all of a sudden tonight it fucking goes beserk. Its not TERRIBLE, but theres a noticable buzz when you're not playing. So annoying.

no clue d00d, first thing i would say one of the preamp tubes is not so hot, but you said you already changed them all out.

sounds like some kind of bad ground.... have you tried plugging it in somewhere else? can you hide it with a good noise suppresor? also in the big picture a buzzy amp isnt a big deal, it will only bother you. if it still sounds the same when youre playing , fuck it just dont stop playing....

This may sound sort of stupid, but by any chance are you directly under flouresent lights?

if not, and all the other stuff was tested, then, Id havta guess its something internal, which really sucks in your situation.

Did the amp get wet at all, I know, stupid ?, but ya never know.

My old bassist, Stevus Christ, spilled fogjuice on my old Peavey 60/60, and it made noises like you would hear if you were across the hall from a room full of deaf mute yodelers.
Horrific.

Very true. But, I'm an asshole and I want it fixed. I've tried plugging into several different places.

theres def a bad ground in there somewhere. it will be hard to find and maybe take all night but if you have adderall or coke and a multimeter, you could go through the board and test every capasitor /tube/wire from the input untill you narrowed it down to the output... try the harmony central message board.. theres a few amp builders who would know better than anyone here who would prolly jump on your situation to look cool by solving your problem in front of the other guys....

i think you just need to hit ctrl-alt-del

ernie said what I was going to say. he's right. I know shit about amps, but it's 99% in two places.
1) where you plug the cables in
2) where any boards are screwed in.

if it were my unit, I would have some fix it. if I was going to do it myself, I would unscrew, clean and rescrew in the places were my plugs go in. you could have the sheilding and cores on you output cable messed up. then look for screws that are lose or warn spots. if none of that works, you are probably going have to send it out.
