So I have this laptop for school. Whenever I burn a CD on it, with either iTunes or Roxio, it stops in the middle and says "Nope, ur doin it rong." It tells me there was a problem burning it. Every time I burn something.

Any suggestions, folks?

I've been texting him about it. He's occupied at the moment, however. Patience is a virtue, I'm told. I have none.

What it says above is what it tells me. I put in a blank CD. Create a list of tracks to burn. Hit Burn. It goes pretty consistently for half of the CD then it stops, spits the CD out, and says there was a problem with the project.

Yes. This has been an on-going problem. The drive was replaced back in December or January and continues to do the same thing.

it sounds like you don't have enough virtual memory to store what you're trying to burn; it can't keep up with the burn rate. Have you tried lowering the burn speed?

you need to narrow down whether it's a bad drive issue, buffering issue or software issue. Try to burn just a single track and see if it still fails at the same spot.

it usually comes down to 2 things
1) bad drive
2) bad media or media that doesn't work well with the burner.

I'm disgusted that 'DO A BARREL ROLL' was never suggested in this thread.

Turn off the FAIL button.

[Aug 12,2008 8:35am - KitchenIncident ""]
I think that is a feature that is exclusive to Macs.

no PCs have a fail button too, you just need a startup disk to get to them.

Most PCs are set up by people who don't know what they're doing and don't take the time to crack a book.

This post is kind of useless because you've left out ALL of the important information:

Computer type
Operating System
Drive type and Model #
Exact Error Message

If you called tech support like this, they'd be like, "Nilla, plz."

I'd install InfraRecorder -- free open source software -- and see what message it gives you.

Preliminarily, I'd say that the people suggesting you have bad media are probably right.

Probably but haven't tried anything else yet, due to my lack of any other media.

I said "Fuck it," and opened file sharing in the computers here and just burned them with my father's PC.

Crafty.
