ZYKLON TO SUPPORT ARCH ENEMY[views:26997][posts:25]______________________________________ [Jan 20,2004 8:47pm - the_reverend ""] ZYKLON TO SUPPORT ARCH ENEMY Philadelphia: Candlelight Records confirms Zyklon as support for Arch Enemy on their upcoming European tour. The dates, scheduled to begin February 17 in Cologne, Germany marks the band's first European tour in support of their current album, Aeon, and will follow their first trip to Japan as headliners for the nineth Extreme the Dojo festival. Zyklon guitarist Samoth says, "Needless to say we are very excited about Japan. We never even got to go there with Emperor so this is definitely a big highlight for us. And after several attempts we have finally finally confirmed a full European tour, and it's a good one too. Stampin' Ground will also be on the bill with us and Arch Enemy, so it should make a strong package, covering several aspects of metal. Formed from the ashes of Emperor, Zyklon released their debut World ov Worms in 2001 to worldwide critical acclaim. The Norwegian band, featuring guitarist Destructhor and bassist/vocalist Secthdamon (also of Myrkskog), with drummer Trym and guitarist Samoth, participated on the successful "Extreme Music for Extreme People" US tour featuring Morbid Angel, Deicide, Soilent Green and Exhumed. In early 2002, the band began work on their second album, Aeon. The album was recorded at Akkerhaugen Lydstudio (Emperor) and mixed by Fredrik Nodstrom at Fredman Studios (In Flames, Meshuggah, Arch Enemy), Since its late 2003 release, the album has received overwhelming support from Terrorizer, Metal Maniacs, Brave Words Bloody Knuckles, Kerrang, Unrestrained and countless others. Confirmed dates with Arch Enemy as of press time include: Feb. 17 - Cologne, GER - Live Music Hall Feb. 18 - Aalen/Stuttgart, GER - RockIt Feb. 19 - Munich, GER - New Backstage Feb. 21 - Vidia, ITA - Cesena Feb. 22 - Bergamo, ITA - Motion Feb. 24 - Barcelona, SPA - Razzmatazz II Feb. 25 - Madrid, SPA - Caracol Feb. 27 - Paris, FRA - Elysee Montmartre Feb. 28 - Hellendoorn, NETH - Lantaarrn Feb. 29 - Eindhoven, NETH - Effenaar Mar. 02 - Hamburg, GER - Logo Mar. 03 - Osnabruck, GER - Works Mar. 04 - Essen, GER - Zeche Carl Mar. 05 - Antwerpen, BEL - Hof Ter Loo Zyklon's Aeon and World ov Worms are available in stores from Candlelight Records worldwide. |

I have never read any interviews with them, so I don't know what they think about themselves, but they are a good band, and there is nothing wrong with a band's acknowledgement of their own talent. But, the old growler sucks. Wait, he didn't growl he spoke harshly while wobbling his voice all over the place. It is so sad to hear such good music behind those vocals. I am glad Angela came in and straightened things out in the vocal department. |
___________________________________ [Jan 20,2004 11:22pm - Kalopsia ""] i agree retzam. to be honest i never really listened to arch enemy until angela joined, and whether she's hot or not she has an amazing death metal voice. so of course after buying wages of sin i downloaded some of their older material, and the music is good, but the vocals aren't. i'm not even gonna bother buying their older material. i don't believe for one second they have sold out. the introduction of angela's voice into the band has propelled them into one of the best death metal bands today, and the fact that she's a freakin knockout has gotten mainstream media's attention. case in point: good band, better singer, hotter singer, more touring, more exposure, more pictures of said singer, i see nothing wrong with this at all. |

Did you see the generic rock-star antics? I was cracking up their entire set at all the lame stuff they do on stage now, especially the Rock Star Runout™ which they did twice in one set. ·The new album is watered down blibbidy blah. If that and the new Dimmu are signs of things to come, mainstream extreme metal will be going the ways of pop music: regurgitated recycled feces, and that's coming from one of the biggest Dimmu fans on this board. [/OPINION] |

_______________________________________ [Jan 21,2004 2:11am - DeOdiumMortis ""] The new Dimmu is horribly watered down, it has none of the flair that any of their past releases had. Even live, I couldn't tell the five new songs apart from eachother but I could tell them apart from the older songs because they couldn't hold my attention while anything from PEM back woke me right up. They'll never top Spiritual Black Dimensions as far as their modern sounding records go. |

________________________________ [Jan 21,2004 4:27am - George ""] i havnt heard it, jay says he likes it. am i the only one who likes puritanical euphoric misanthropia better than spiritual black dimensions? maybe i just like "nu" black metal better than noise black metal. |

_____________________________________ [Jan 21,2004 2:47pm - RustedAngel ""] no, she's not that hot, your all fooled into thinking she's hot... think about it, 99.9% of the bands are all guys, so when a girl comes out with 'decent' features (not fat) she becomes the hottest girl ever... :satancross: |

________________________________ [Jan 21,2004 9:49pm - retzam ""] Ok, fuck opinions, new Dimmu is great. Yeah, they put the guitars down about 5 notches, but the awesome orchestral keyboard parts went up about 10 notches. This is the same case with Mayhem: old shit is noise, people like it, new shit is music, people don't like it. Well, except that old Dimmu is awesome too and it isn't just noise. I love Mustis's keyboard parts just as much as Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen and Sorgens Kammer. They are just as brilliant and just as unique. |

______________________________ [Aug 14,2005 1:34pm - wade ""] in the case of arch enemy...i claim utter indifference. and i see way better looking women at the grocery store. in the case of dimmu...i have Immortal's 'At the Heart of Winter' so again, complete indifference. if that only makes sense to me, well that's fuckin a-okay, too. i did like seeing Nick Barker play for them live even though the sound was bad (New Jersey and Mass.) can't wait to hear Horgh on the new Hypocrisy. |
