Gametap: opinions?[views:1227][posts:9]_______________________________________________________ [Jan 23,2008 8:24am - ArrowHead likes Ellios Pizza ""] My girlfriend's car won't start, so I had to get up at 6:00 to drive her into work. Now I'm all awake and can't sleep, so I'm playing video games. Anyone else ever try Gametap? I signed up for the freebie account, which gives you access to something like 100 games. Some are crap, but there's some decent games on there as well. For free, I've been playing Psychonauts, Tomb Raider: Legend, Blood Omen 2, Bloodrayne, Hitman: Contracts, Second Sight, Darkstalkers, etc... etc... I got a PS2 style controller to use with my PC, and so far most of the games run pretty well. Anyone here ever try the full subscription? For $60 you can get full access for a year, which is some 900+ games. Is it worthwhile? |

Some are old ones like the silent hill games, but there's new stuff too like Jericho and Overlord. Definitely holds the potential to ruin my life. |

_______________________________________________________ [Jan 23,2008 9:04am - ArrowHead likes Ellios Pizza ""] They download to your computer and save like normal games. You just have to launch them from the gametap software. |

The first time you select a game, it downloads to your computer. With the free version, you're forced to watch a 30 second commercial before you can play a game. |

I'm not a huge gamer so rampage and bubble bobble keeps me happy. but its definitely worth checking out even for the casual gamer. |
__________________________________________ [Jan 23,2008 9:50am - thegreatspaldino ""] i played tomb raider legend through gametap... i have no idea how i did it as my comp blew ass then (512 DDR, 64 mb integrated graphics card) but i beat it in two sittings. now that my comp has 3 gigs of ram and a 512 card... im seriously thinking about checking out the full version. |

Having the controller makes it about the same as playing on a console. Now I can use mouse and keyboard for FPS, and have my controller for scrollers. |
