ABBA and the inspiration for Throbbing Gristle[views:4359][posts:8]___________________________________ [Oct 4,2007 9:01pm - vein_water ""] anyone else believe abba completely influencing Chris Carter of TG? I know there are a few industrialist out there. |
______________________________ [Oct 5,2007 10:37am - Yeti ""] i know nothing about Throbbing Gristle, but i'm interested. i know they played a big influence role for Godflesh. |

I always thought dub was more of a mistake in the studio during the mixing/matering, that lead to new ideas. Never really heard any kraftwerk in early dub though. not enough bass in kraftwerk |

You should also check out Total/Pure/Skullflower (all mathew bowers projects) which is as far as I know the biggest influence on Justin of Godflesh. |

Kind of weird considering who Throbbing Gristle are, what they stand for, and how they sound. But Carter was a huge Abba fan, and it did influence his work in TG. |
_____________________________________ [Oct 6,2007 2:53pm - the_reverend ""] TG was always billed as anti-abba-style. that was the point at the beginning. at least from genesis's pov. carter and that other girl were always more dance oriented |

_____________________________________ [Oct 6,2007 3:09pm - the_reverend ""] if you dig TG's stuff, I think alan vega (ex-suicide) did a very good mondern version of TG in a project called VVV. jarring electronics with vega's weird vocals. damn, now I want to listen to vvv. |
