grasshoppers: still the nicest, bestest place to eat. The most popular line there is "wow, my eyes were bigger than my stomach". Now, I have food for days. some of the bands hit this place at noon-ish. I guess the venue gives the bands food too. in dire need: absolutely amazing sound for them. this totally made up for the rhode island show. Good for jay's last show to be a great sounding one. It was funny at the end to when sean (guitar) and aaron (bass) jumped down and danced around, leaving joe(singer) just shaking his head. Sorry to xericx (drummer) for not getting back there to snap shots of you. hopefully his ego's not bruised. It's funny seeing them on a stage. Aaron was backing all sorts of weird faces and sean spent most of his time up in the air. a cold reality: they play a bunch of songs that I didn't recognize (I assume they are new) and a bunch of songs that I did (I assume older). They were minus both a dedicated singer with the guitarist (justin) and bass (neil) player (who still did backups with the dedicated singer) doing all the vocals. the vocals didn't sound that bad, but it was hard to hear them up close. I think they should have been raised up. I don't even think they could hear them in the monitors. tester: you know I really don't like LOA, but these guys sounded nothing like that. it was fratty alt-rock. you could tell there were some pantera/awk influences, but basically they didn't fit the bill at all. they also played forever... their last 15 minutes was a montage of different covers from some xmas song to a minute of slayer to bon jovi living on a prayer. this sort of stuff goes over great playing for a bunch of white hats at a college bar... but not really in a room with hxc kids. the best thing was ex-red shift horizon getting up with them and the guitarist's chain guitar strap. I think a lot of bands who's straps break could use one of those. feces pieces: ero l'unico là per loro che non parlavo italiano? per fortuna carina e stato la mia tradutrice. I listened to the cd a long long long time ago. Can't say I was the biggest fan of it, but they were ok live. I didn't really recognize anything. By this point in the night, I was coughing constantly and just wanted to leave. they had a constantly spewing fog-machine. I must say, their last song that I heard was the best by far. it was way more brutal. I'm not sure why they had 2 singer though, they both basically sounded the same. one of the singers should have poo'ed in the toilet.
