Hi, folks, Bear with me, because this post may be a tad lengthy. I'd like to address a few issues: 1. I realize I've offended people with the phrase "F*ck the Fire Department". I was, in all honesty, doing it to be humorous. I'm from the 80's (yeah, I know I'll get slagged on for admitting that...oh well!) and haven't learned to play the game of political-correctness yet. So, yeah, I screwed up. If I had known that using that phrase would result in the generation of more whining than an emo concert, I would have totally avoided it. My bad. I admit it. So let's move on here... 2. I am NOT against firefighters. I'm not against anyone, really. 3. I am sad that my club is closing because the owner can't afford to put in a $40,000 sprinkler system. He already has a $770,000 mortgage on the building and could lose his house if he tries to extend that mortgage. This puts all my staff out of work, and it is very stressful. So, I vented. Maybe it went too far. 4. I really did try to provide a service to the metal community by creating a night for just metal every Sunday. We were pretty much the only club doing this after O'Briens went on hiatus. I really enjoy heavier music and wanted to open the Skybar to this. I did what I could. I tried. 5. I used to get mad when people called me "shocking" or "controversial". Then I decided not to let it bother me, and just run with it, if that is what people's opinion is. So, now, I just take it in stride, and with humor. (Is it okay to display and appreciate humor, or did that go out with the 80's, too?) In summary, okay, I chose the wrong phrase, and I'm sorry it rubbed people the wrong way. Let's let it drop. This has taken up far too much of your time and attention, which could be better spent on learning about and discussing good local bands. I'm not looking for sympathy, etc., and I'm sorry if my stress levels escalated to the point of me "pissing people off". This was never my intent. ~Anders Othniel (and no, "Othniel" is not some "goth" name - it's Hebrew for "lion" and a nick since childhood).
