...For metal shit?

I've been looking into Reason Software. I think thats what Penile Suffocation use and its sounds great.
I need something affordable but good! Any suggestions would help!

if your gonna use DKFH you better have a TON of space on your hard drive.

with drum kit from hell you still need another program to sequence the midi track. DKFH can only be used as a VST instrument and you set your kit as an output device so when you sequence your midi track and play it back you get drum sounds. For instance, when you set it all up and you click the keys on the keyboard in the midi sequencer, each key has a different drum sound to it. I got cubase LE with Drumkit from Hell 2 and it fucking kills, the only problem is that I need like another gig or ram for it to work.

I think I may be mis-interpreting you ?!?!

Is the drum software actually called Torrent?

I tried looking on p2p programs for drum software but to no avail. I wish I could remember this kid's FTP server from Sweden that has a bunch of bootlegged stuff on it. I'd just get it from there. I don't remeber the address?!?! It seems like Europe is way ahead of the game when it comes to sharing software.....Fucking kids had the latest shit bootlegged way before it was actually on the market or at least made affordable.

I couldnt find a torrent for dkfh about 3 months ago, and I just retried, and found nothing.
I want this.

So, what else is out there for good drum software besides DKFH?
I've been reading up on a lot of stuff but, I'd rather hear from people that actually work with this stuff!

Please keep it comin'!

ok well dude...I use samples.
I painstakingly paste them in time, then copy and paste the arrangements....is time consuming, but very specific.
I can give you some samples, but it takes a while to get it.

Normally, if I cant find a torrent, it dosent publicly exist.
I think this is the case.
Dreaming in Exile MAY be able to help you with this file.

Well I just use acid as a client, I dont use their loops or anything....basically its like a digital 4 track, but unlimited tracking, and ease of use.

I hear more good things about Reason software so I think thats what I'm gonna go for?!
I'm just waiting for Pat from Penile Suffocation to reply to my IM. He's in Sweden and its really late, but last time I knew he doesn't sleep so hopefully I can find out what he uses.

You're looking for two different things, which leads me to believe you need to do a little more reading on the subject.

1) You need sequencing software to map out and play back your drum tracks. Logic, Sonar, Pro-Tools, Reason, Acid, Audition, and many other programs have midi sequencing to one degree or another.

2) you need Drum samples, to playback from your midi drum tracks. Drumkit from Hell, Drumkit from Hell 2, Drumkit From Hell Superior, BFD, and a few other drumkit samples that are well suited to metal. Some sets, like DFH1 require a software sampler to play back the sounds. DFH2 and Superior have built in software samplers.

Drumkit From Hell is a set of drum samples taken from Thomas Haake, the drummer of meshuggah. They actually recorded the drumtracks on one of their albums using it.

It sounds like this:

Tesseract REALLY think they can get away with capping the last letter in the band name?

I jsut slammed the credit card with legit versions of drum software, triggers, and a few other neat little toys. Once I install all the drums I will have over 12 gig of drum sounds alone. Check out drummergog, drumkit from hell superior, BFH, and reason 3 for some decent drum sounds.

Do you happen to need a snare trigger? I got a nice roland RT-5s for sale.

i dunno how easy it is to crack cuz i ::GASP:: bought it. but tracktion comes with a midi sampler for this kinda shit. you can download instument packages... then assign sounds to notes as well as midi triggers to notes. when i got it.. it was 80 bucks. sampler is a vst filter and u load the samples. the samples u can put on a note and tell it which notes to span, then it varies in pitch accordingly. so for instance if u burp a C and record it. then put it on middle C on a keyboard and stretch it to span the keyboard u will have a keboard tuned correctly with you burping.

This is the reply I was waiting for
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hey! wasn't home when you sent me that message.

i use Propellerheads' Reason 2.5 but there's a 3 now as i understand. Haven't updated for a while. Other than that I've only used the "rock kit" in there and sometimes just modified the set with drum samples from the sample collection Drum Kit From Hell. After that i just export the drumbeats so they turn into wav-files and then arrange it all in Cubase where I also record all guitars and bass.

That should get you started! Hehehe...

take care dude!

/Pat (Penile Suffocation)

p.s. check out our new Afgrund stuff on our myspace profile...
Hope you like it!

We use Reason 2.5 and 3, but sample our own kit for all the parts. I like it because it gives you all the options to use great sounding synths & can make your own sounds. There's a lot of sequencing you can do, only hard part I've found is switching time signatures a lot with it

We export the drums into ProTools and record the other parts from there

i actually use Guitarpro 5 for my drums...with the right EQing and effects you can make them sound good
