Movie: Wicker man[views:4684][posts:19]_______________________________________ [Aug 26,2006 9:19am - Y_Ddraig_Goch ""] A remake of the cult classic starring Nicholas Cage. I am pysched about this movie, mainly because I am a Celtic Nationalist and this movie centers around an Irish legend. The movie is about some little girl that is kidnapped and a cop goes to rescue her, finds himself on some island with quaker style people, only these ones live like the ancient Irish and perform certian rituals. I think the movies is going to have something to do with how the people kidnap people for the Wickerman ceremony. The wickerman was one of the ancient gods of Ireland, I think his Irish name is Cromm Cruich, and they used to make giant wicker effigies and fill it with 1/3 of their new borns that year as well as 1/3 of all the new born livestock, and then they would set it ablaze for a good crop and ferility for both man and beast. I hope they don't try to make any "this is why christians are better than pagans" bull crap |

I got a VHS copy of it for 50 cents at a yardsale in the mid 90's I don't think I will see the new version. Chances are it won't measure up. Nothing can beat the creepiness of the original film and the music is really incredible too. |

The original is one of the best horror films of all time, even though it might be slow the atmosphere, acting, story, and soundtrack are what make the movie. I really liked the last thirty minutes, it really tricked me. but if you are the typical american viewer you will hate this movie because it involves thinking. The plot was ridiculous, thinly tied together, and altogether-just lame. Nicolas Cage...shame on you! I assumed that since you were in it, that it would be at least decent. It was not. I felt like huge parts of the movie had been left on the cutting room floor, and even if it's complete-the movie was just outlandish and silly. At the end you're left mouth agape, mind befuddled and good taste offended. I have never heard so many people leave a theater on opening day with so much hatred. People were complaining about it in small groups in the mall, four floors down from the theater near the entrance. It's that bad. I heard it compared to : Glitter, American Werewolf in Paris and Gigli. " |
