Plug it into your computer and try to see if you can restore it to the default factory settings. You'll lose all songs on it but if you have them backed up on your comp it shouldn't be a problem. I have this problem where the battery completely dies out of nowhere every once in a while when the thing is fully charged. One time I fliped out because I thought my brand new ipod was dead but then when I plug the thing in it said the battery was extremely low so I like the thing charge for a few hours and it worked again. Kind of weird all these issues with ipods. Which one do you have?

a friend of mine just got this on hers too...she tried to bring hers back but it was after warranty...bring it back immediately, apparently that means it's actually broken

Bring it to the Apple store so they can see what's wrong with it then you should be able to return it no problem if it is fucked up.

when my iPod broke it was under warranty...but Best Buy found one scratch on the fucker and told me that it looks like it was dropped, and that's not covered.

If you cause a scene at Best Buy, they will do anything to get you out of there. When I went to return my ipod when it broke after 2 weeks. There was a dude in front of me that had an old gen 40gb ipod, he caused a scene and ended up walking out with a 60gb ipod photo.

It took me about 15 minutes and I had a new ipod and was outta there.

catfish catfish catfish.

I once told best buy that my 3-month old camera was "known to be defective" and just to bring it back and get all the money back to get a different camera. easiest thing ever.

shut up, you jerk. I should mention that I did drop my ipod and there was like...inky stuff all over the screen. I think I would've done better if it wasn't obvious.

edit: actually to be fair to myself, I never dropped it. A co-worker did. Fuck you, Bean!

best buy is horrible when it comes to exchanges/returns on high ticket items. such a hassle. they are nothing but a scam when it comes ot buying those extended service contracts. but if you bring it to BB and show them what its doing they SHOULD do something for you.

The Apple store is real cool about exchanges and repairs "IF" you first make an online appt. For their "Genious Bar". Dont just show up there, they will tell you to go online and schedule an appt. Stupid rules.

my friend's iPod who had the same problem as yours just started working again... I guess she just left it alone for a little bit and then tried to charge it again and it worked.

for returns and exchanges the apple store charges a 10% restock fee or something like that

I got an Ipod through musician's friend back in September or so. It started to do the "unhappy face" sporadically and randomly locked up and erased my entire library. I sent it back and they managed to weasel out of the warrantee...I guess the "shelf life" expired and musician's friend never bothered to send it back. The reset commands didn't help either.

that's completely lame.

yeah, there is something inherently evil about the iPod and all those who peddle their wares. But I keep coming back for more and so does everyone else.

first try resetting the thing. That takes care of 60% of the issues people return thier ipods for.

I tried over and over and over and over again.

i bought the 30 gig less then 2 months ago and the battery would die after like 2 hours
I went to best buy and told them about the battery and I left with a brand new iPod in less then 10 minutes

glad to hear it is fixed. Mine went down a flight of stairs at bandstand live yesterday and it made it through it. I thaught for sure it was the end of it. In fact I still can not get over it surviving.

Next time it happens bring it to the Apple store. They'll try to see what's wrong with it regardless of where you bought it because it's an Apple product.
