[band=the_acacia_strain]: since the last show that they played there was so big, I really expected this show to be a lot more packed and a lot more crazy for them. I mean there were a lot of people there and it was crazy, but there weren't the legions of girls that sang along to everything. maybe the puke scared them off? at the end of their set, jeff and some other jumped up on stage and sang. [band=overcast]: wow.. take about the way back machine. they were around when I was going from highschool into college. I remember all the hype from promotion companies about them way back in the late 90's. A lot of these songs I've been listening to for 10 years. thankfully, I get to see them again. actually for the 2nd time since their break up. the set was full of new songs! and the hope of more material from them. Are they just cashing in on the popularity of the band members other projects? Maybe, but in short who cares. they are releasing some classic material and recording some old songs that never got released. for those people that were "there" in the early days this is awesome (and not just cause your demo copy of their CD will go for $$$ on ebay). We get a new dose of a band that we liked 10 years ago. The set was stuffed with so many classic songs from them. sandiwched in their set were two new songs too. A good thing about their set is that the front of the stage all of a sudden gets really old. the average age goes from 17 to 28 and I'm suddenly not the oldest person (besides the bar owner) in the room anymore. from beginning to end, they played awesome. the drummer is a machine and those guitarists didn't miss a note. one of them was even kind enough to break the 4th wall and slide his guitar across my forehead... I'm pretty sure he was trying to make me balder. note to self: don't drag guitar strings/fret boards across your forehead again. Also, Mike D did his usual head banging while playing and brian fair swung that immense hair creature around for the entire set. I was happy (as I'm sure they were) that kids sang along to everything. Since brian had the duties of spinning his locks around, I'm sure that he loved the fact that all he had to do was stick the mic in to the crowd and people knew the words. On this saturday, they will have their last of the planned reunions at NEMHF.
