DrinkHardThrashHard said:
Heheh, I actually do like almost all genres of metal man, I apologize if I don't come across that way. It's a metal board though, you know, metal fans are pretty passionate about all this stuff. So we argue and agree, on and on.
No, you come across well informed, which is why I took back the "I don't give a shit" thing... I guess lately I've just noticed that a lot of people with basically similar tastes are divided, sometimes angrily, over some very subtle things. So much so, that if you try to take from many different styles of metal instead of staying true to some archetype when making your own music, you will actually lose listeners altogether who may have found some common ground with another element of your music. ...and I guess I wouldn't bother to concern myself with this if I wasn't also passionate about this stuff. I wouldn't have taken the time to know the difference between "real grind" and "all the bands that just tack 'grind' to their name"... being in a band that doesn't really strive to be one particular thing makes you very aware of the whole genre thing...my band has been called metalcore, and will continue to be called metalcore probably...and that's such a dirty word these days, but it's basically true. Taking away the stigma, it's not the end of the world. I don't know, sigh.
