_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 5:22pm - the_reverend ""] carina and I just got here. the first 2 bands already played. |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 5:28pm - the_reverend ""] frequency needs a mate: (2nd stage) they were "emoy". Not my cup of tea. I snapped a free shots and then headed down stairs. anti love: (main stage) I thought they were really goot at the springfield fest, but when I came down for their last song, they started off sort of rocky... Meaning it sounded off. 1/2 through that song they pulled it together and it sounded better than SFest although they ended their set time. Go out on a positive note. |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 5:50pm - the_reverend ""] this is hell: (main stage) some 2-step parts to their music, but over all it sounded more like ETID. Even the 2-step parts sort of sounded like ETID trying to cover a terror song. They did have everyone screaming though (except the drummer). I'm sure that ferret would sign them sadaharu: (2nd stage) the music wasn't too bad, but I wasn't too into the singing. I'm sure it sounds different on CD, but it came out more like the daughters' live singing. The music was sort of heavey, but had hints of 70's rock to it. Not so evident as seemless, but still. |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 5:55pm - the_reverend ""] there aren't many people here yet. most of the kids here are either from th chicopee/springfield scene or wearing a CKY shirt. silent drive is about to go on though and they are awesome. |
_________________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 5:59pm - CarrotsandSticks ""] sure wish I could see High on Fire....mooooan |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 6:24pm - the_reverend ""] silent drive: (main stage) I'd been looking forward to seeing them again on a big stage. Zack was running aroundlike a madman as usual. He spent almost the entire set in the crowd with everyone singing along. Pete seemed like he was holding back a little. He didn't fling his bass around at all. Nick was in a chair. I guess he had just had sugery or something, but he made it to the show still. I think I know what it is about them that I like, they remind me a little of the band Live who are a guilty pleasure... Zack got his hair cut wicked short, but claimed it was a frat prank (the lambda lambda lambda brothers.) |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 6:26pm - the_reverend ""] I'm also guessing it was all "old" songs they played cause everyone knew them and was singing along. chuck brunswick: (2nd stage) the last time I saw them was at cabot st (i think). they sounded pretty tight (though or of the guitar rigs crapped out for a couple minutes). the crowd upstairs for them was really big (atleast the same size as watching silent drive down stairs). When I walked in from downstiars, there was a guy moshing in only shortshorts. Note to handcore bands: remove shortshorts from you merch puleez. |
___________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 6:40pm - BornSoVile ""] oh man, i didn't see High on Fire was playing, fuck. |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 6:55pm - the_reverend ""] seemless: (main stage) another band that I was super excited to see play live again on a big stage (and more importantly with a photopit). They sound awesome. I was downstairs for the first 2 songs and they didn't play the track from the CD that I really like, but then when I came back down from up stairs they did and it was good. their last song. I don't think the crowd knew what to do so I saw a couple people pumping horns in the air. Everytime I see jesse singing/ screaming, all I want to say is KSE reunion! the first time I saw them, I gave then a horrible review... then I heard a track on the radio that rocked and I was forced to appologize. a loss for words: (2nd stage) for a band that I don't really like, I sure see them an aweful lot. Like other bans, they are a highschool girls wetdream.. All the emoish singing. The front row is always people (mostly young ladies) singing along with them. I remember them basically getting enveloped at romans with people. It wasn't that packed, but there were plenty of people. |
___________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 6:55pm - anonymous ""] when you see guy from red chord can you ask him about merrimac valley/ nh dates for their tour with darkest hour and converge |
___________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 7:10pm - anonymous ""] the palladium is alright i guess but its just to far thanks alot rev |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 7:24pm - the_reverend ""] chariot, the: (main stage) yes, they are a jesus band but I've listened to that CD way too mach and it's awsome to see it live. They ran around the sang as much as barney (napalm death). the singer (ex-norma jean) would toss the mic stand way up in the air. I was sort of scared of that When I came back downstairs, I heard "jesus loves you and so do we. I hope are ok with that" then they ended with "before there was atlanta there was douglasville." I guess people were moshing a bit too cause the bounces were up on the barricades. If this had been any other band, the singer would have been in the crowd/on the barricade, but the chariot are always so stand off-ish and I thing they are a little too akward to do that. Divide The Day: (2nd stage) they were screamo/metalcore from cali. The crowd was wicked small for them. I think it's cause the chariot was playing downstairs. They sounded pretty good and reminded me of anterrabae. |
_________________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 7:27pm - BestialOnslaught ""] Why isn't DEFCON 4 playing???? |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 7:52pm - the_reverend ""] haste the day: (main stage) as I've said countless time, great d00ds (some of the nicest guys ever). they played an awesome sounding set. In this band everyone but a guitarist sang, even the drummer. I was sort of surprised that the singer didn't go in to the crowd. After all the times I've seen them at drifters, I think that they would have. its sort of odd that they put both "jesus" bands together.. oh well. ps I heard "stubble was punkrock" - AP magazine. The Knives: (2nd stage) seemed like they were going for the vendetta red/seemless sound. I actually thought that the bassist looked like the singer of vendetta red, the robert palmer look. They also were dressed like bikers. |
_________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 8:11pm - succubus ""] Ok so I'm downstairs and high on fire is playing...they sound awesome but the stage looks empty... |
___________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 8:25pm - anonymous ""] they are going against db4d and all the hxc people want to see them they dont care aboutt a kick ass metal band |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 8:29pm - the_reverend ""] high on fire: (main stage) they rocked out 70s still. The music sounded awesome, especially for downstairs at the palladium. The singer rocked around the stage a lot, but I thought the bassist sort of just stood there like a stump. He was probably on the 70s. if you know what I mean. death before dishonor: (2nd stage) when I saw that they were playing the palladium, I knew I had to go. This band should be a regular on shows here. I guess the new guitar player had a run in with the law. So this young upstart guitar player named ken susi is filling in on guitar. he spent the hour leading up to the show learning all the songs. He only played for on song. they took a long time to set up so their set was super short. After that frankie jumped on guitar. People really went all out for them. A pit opened upstraight to the back and during the last song, everyone crowded up on stage for the sing-along. |
_____________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 9:08pm - the_reverend ""] red chord, the: (main stage) fun fact, 3/5 of TRC played in their barefeet. guy spent most of the set in the crowd. I guess they fucked up on the first song, but I didn't notice. John (ex-deadwater drowing) was filling in on guitar. I honestly had no clue who they had gotten for a fill in. Funny cause nate (also ex-DWD, current POW/the_network) came out and sang along on clients. during the last song, dreaming in dog years, natethewar jumped off into the crowd.. Er.. I mean "stage dove" and the bouncers grabbed him and tossed him out into the crowd. all in all a fun and rather DwD filled set. fireball ministry: (2nd stage) I'll be the first to admit that I'm not really a fan of this band. I was actually surprised cause during TRC there were actually like 100 kids up there with them headbanging. |
_________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 9:13pm - succubus ""] The red chord owned the stage ..and crowd...what a set..I took a ton of pics...and even got to hear miss cailah sing! Oh and they are the nicest guys ever |
___________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 9:33pm - anonymous ""] trc are the nicest guys ever |
______________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 10:06pm - the_reverend ""] bane: (main stage) it was very odd seeing them on that stage with the barricade after seeing them so many times at the ICC. Like silent drive, they mentioned the fact that the place took 27% on the merch. They didn't seem too happy to playing here, but aaron (the singer) spent most of the set in the audience. Zack also spent a lot of time in the crowd. I must say that I think pete was saving his energy with silent drive cause he was very animated on stage with bane. there was a lot of crowd participation though I noticed that (as with all bane shows) the crowds age drops a few years while they are playing. |
______________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 10:16pm - the_reverend ""] daughters: (2nd stage) so... I run up after a could bane songs to shoot them. I almost didn't recognize them cause there's 1 or 2 new members and the singer's hair is fucking long. The first song I heard then play was a new song. The drumming on it was awesome. if the whole CD sounds like that, as the sun sets fans are goting to bust a nut in a major way. As the set went on and on, the singer's pants got lower and lower... Ep... Until they came down all together. This was right after he spat water in to a guy's mouth, put his crotch in some one's face and then dumped water down a girl's cleavage. Yes, I still took pictures where mr. Winky is in. I also got a super sweat picture of the drummer. |
______________________________________ [Sep 9,2005 11:02pm - the_reverend ""] ps: if you think I'm gay for thay, I am not. I'm a documentarist. anyhow, I can't believe the day is basically over. every time i die: (main stage) they played one song I wanted, the logic of crocodiles. Other than that, it was mostly new stuff. People from the crowd yelled out things that they wanted to hear, but they kept getting "not going to happen." At some point, there was a technical difficulty of some sort which caused them to have to cut a song. Sucks, but whatever. They also made comments about there being no actual skate boarding going on at this skatefest. As they got towards the end, they played more off hot damn. They even finished with that song off hot damn they always do. |

______________________________________ [Sep 10,2005 7:04pm - the_reverend ""] cky: (main stage) the best part of this band is the fact that matt (ex-ATR) is now the bassist. Man, that was a little bit of a shock... Other than that, there were tons and tons of people there just to see them. Honestly, I don't get it at all. someone please explained it to me! all those people were singing along to this band that I've never heard before and 40 year olds are offering to do whatever to get back stage... Ep! Is this band really that big? Did they get that way by making semi-skate videos? someone pattent that formula to fame and sell the secrets on ebay now. |
___________________________________ [Sep 11,2005 11:22pm - Josh603 ""] Fuck CKYs fans. I havent heard their music before, but their fans are idiots. They completely ruined what could of been a really fun show. They don't understand a concept of a show with hardcore bands on it. You don't try to push mosh during Bane or any band that people dance to. That is only going to get your ass kicked, which is what happened to a number of CKY fans. |
