I did listen to the music. I liked a few parts of 'Baying of the Hounds' and 'Atonement', and the rest bores the fuck out of me so I got rid of my promo. 'Quality musicianship and song writing capabilities' are subjective terms, just because you say they are such does not mean it is true, or that everyone else will agree. The tour is scheduled to run June 25 through the end of July. The Sounds of the Underground will be an all-day event with music starting each day at noon and will be held in both indoor and outdoor venues in the U.S. and Canada. Confirmed bands: CLUTCH POISON THE WELL OPETH UNEARTH FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES CHIMAIRA NORMA JEAN EVERY TIME I DIE STRAPPING YOUNG LAD THROWDOWN HIGH ON FIRE DEVILDRIVER ALL THAT REMAINS A LIFE ONCE LOST A special half-time performance will be made by GWAR mid-way thru the show.>>>> So if you like any of those other bands, then they're gay now too. Seriously though, besides the fact that I dont really like any of those bands (though I saw Strapping Young Lad open for Testament in 1997 at the Middle East and they werent that bad), HOT TOPIC is a lame hang out for mall-goths and trendies, but it's true that it's not the bands decision wether their tour is sponsored by Hot Topic, becuase they signed a contract with a label and after that they're owned. Of COURSE he's going to say that shit to cover for himself, are you kidding me? The albums were already available everywhere, that is why they sold so well, and why Roadrunner offered them a deal to begin with, just like they signed Dykewish who also sold well. The Candlelight, Century Media, all those Opeth titles were readily available in many stores, or simply a click away on the internet. No one here seemed to have a problem getting their albums, or they would not be so huge today. We are all aware of the 80s Roadrunner, but that is not the Roadrunner of today. It's almost impossible to find anything pre-blackwater park in stores nationwide, and a lot of people still refuse to buy cd's online. The bottom line is that it doesnt matter what label signs any particular band. Of couse opeth signed in hopes of making more money, after all it would be stupid to turn a good offer like that down. Just because hot topic is selling the record doesnt mean Opeth is gay, or lame or whatever. The issue should be the music, will roadrunner change the way that opeth makes music? no of course not. But for someone to sit there and say that they dislike opeth for signing with roadrunner is completely mistaken. I for one, congratulate bands when they achieve success, opeth certainly deserves a great opportunity to make a decent paycheck while doing what they do best. to all douche bags out there who start to hate bands because they get sponsored by the hot topics or signed by roadrunner or whatever the case may be, dont be jealous cuz your nirvana cover band is breaking up because you cant use your moms garage anymore. take the fucking music for what it is. who cares who signs who or who is sponsored by who, it doesnt matter. if the music is good thats all there is to it, if you dont like the music then dont buy the fucking CD assholes |
