THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER enter Billboard top 200 Charts with MIASMA!

The Black Dahlia Murder’s sophomore effort Miasma has entered the top 200 Billboard charts for their first week of sales at 119 selling just under 10,000 copies. They also landed the number 1 position in the Billboard Heat Seekers chart, which celebrates new artists’ releases. In addition The Black Dahlia Murder secured the number 5 position on the Billboard Independent chart and the number 14 position on the Billboard Top Hard Music chart. “We feel that the new record is more intense than the last on every front. I would almost say less accessible than Unhallowed. It’s awesome to see that our fans are growing right along with us, musically speaking, and are accepting the record with open arms,” comments vocalist Trevor Strnad. This also marks the bands first week out on Ozzfest. So far the band has played to massive numbers in Boston, Connecticut, and Philly and has also gone over extremely well with their off-dates in Montreal, Vermont, and Syracuse. “The fans have been coming out in droves, yet at the same time, we’ve been reaching a lot of new people, which is very important to us. We get to speak for a genre that is highly overlooked with this opportunity, and possibly save people from Nu Metal damnation.”

If you don’t get a chance to catch the band on Ozzfest or on one of their off-dates with It Dies Today and The Haunted the band will be back out on the road in the fall headlining a tour. Line up will be announced at a later time. Also keep an eye on FUSE’s Metal Asylum and Uranium and MTV2’s Headbangers Ball for The Black Dahlia Murder’s new video for the song “A Vulgar Picture” off of Miasma.

Thats awesome. I went to go pick this up the other day, and the Newbury Comics in Bellingham was closing, and had next to nothing. But everything they did have was 20% off so I bought some Death.

I love these guys so much. They are probably my favorite band. But yeah, they do play with some gay bands, and for some reason they have alot of hardcore fans, so their crowd isnt that good. I love their lyrics - so EVIL.

Why does that surprise you? They are hardcore kids, playing At the Gates music.

If you are "ugh"ing Death then I may be forced to defecate in your general direction.

Bdm rule. hands down some of the nicest guy ever and their music is ultra sick (for the most part). the new CD will never live up to unhollowed, but that was the pir best CD. the new one actually sounds like they have been listwning to a lot of gortory. why? well, with few exceptions, there are almost no "amazing" melodic leads or riffs. the songs start brutal and end brutal. that was one thing that the last CD had, a lot of killer melodic riffs. it seems with the new CD that they just wanted to go hard and fast for the whole thing. it actually makes them sound MORE like at the gates because if it too. on the new CD, the viocals are still great. they might actually sound better than unhallowed cause of the better production on thi$ CD. then again, I duobt a lot of people on ths board would like a lot of the "majors" stuff that is being released.

I think its awesome that anything with guttural vocals (and very Carcass influenced vocals) is on the Billboards!! Congrats to BDM! I like the band alot and think both CDs are solid-to-excellent depending on the riff/song.

I think unhallowed was more carcassy.
this new one is more at the gatesy

now that they've tackled both carcass and at the gates....what now?

plus, if kids are listening to this, they are much more easily pulled to the dark side

yeah, major labels should be tricked into signing quality metal bands

that way metal can become popular so that true metalheads can be even more bitter that no one cares about the real underground.

This is a vicious cycle, isn't it?

i agree with rev. we were both at this band's show at a hall in Norway, Maine two(?) years ago. awesomely nice dudes who are METAL kids. How many hardcore kids wear Ghoul shirts? In their hometown, they really only played with hardcore bands 'cuz they shared a lot ethically with hardcore and metal shows were few and far between. simple as that. they're good guys and play metal and they're on Billboard & that rules.

oh and don't take my cynicism as a knock on BDM, I think they're great and I'm psyched for them

I'm just a negative nancy tonight

i disagree....i think most of at the gates's material was more melodic than this CD

I forget which song it was, but one of the songs off their last album was completely ripped off 'Slaughter of the Soul', riff for riff each tempo and riffing pattern was precisely the same, they just thought it was all clever to change the notes and steal themselves a hit song, off a song that was already a hit song with hc/metal fans everywhere.

That's all I need to know. If people like 'em, all the power to them. But I've got more compelling bands to listen too, and a hell of a lot of them.

i never liked this band. they always seemed like fat hardcore kids ripping off at the gates to me. same with darkest hour, except instead of being fat hardcore kids, they were regular sized hardcore kids with identical trendy haircuts. if i want to hear at the gates, i'll put in an at the gates album.

I always thought when people said "they sound like at the gates" 99% of the time, they mean that "they sound like carcass"
