BobNOMAAMRooney nli said:
Most of the black metal bands in the New England area could make a serious run at being the "best" USBM band. Some of my favorite non-NE USBM: Wind of the Black Mountains, Blood Storm, Krieg, Winter of Apokalypse, Nachtmystium, and Weakling I really don't like that USBM band Harvist. I listened to A Gleam in the Night and it had the absolute worst production I've ever heard. It wasn't even the good visceral feeling you get from a hissing lo-fi tape recorder, it was just really tinny and shitty sounding.
I agree, we certainly have one of the stronger BM scenes in the US (it would seem). I guess it's not saying much since the BM scenes are still far stronger elsewhere in the world, but at least its something. I'm not sure I 'get' the loathing other parts of the world seem to have for USBM. Wind of the Black Mountains and Blood Storm are pretty cool, I don't think I've heard Weakling. I didn't like Harvist either.
