TerribleNightSteve said:
I don't want to be a preachy asshole but there is ridiculous cruelty in all aspects of animal based industries. If you think there wasn't torture involved in your leather boots or your hamburger you are kidding yourself. If anyone actually cares there are plenty of resources online to look into, including www.peta2.com. That's enough sensitive garbage for now though.
i've seen all the peta shit and know that there is an assload of cruelty, violence, etc. towards animals in every animal industry, but peta is the most negative company ever the way i look at it. they don't show anything good about any companies that deal with animals; it's basically using fear as a way to get people on their side. of course, i can't blame them because it gets their message across, just like a shitload of other people/organizations do. the fact that they show such imagery of animals that have been tortured, beaten, maimed, left for dead, living in their own filth, etc. is just as disgusting as the people who do things like that to animals. this same instance goes for every company/profession in the world...you see a subway commercial, they badmouth mcdonalds. you see a mcdonalds commercial, they badmouth burger king. you hear about a bunch of kids setting fire to public buildings, churches, etc. on the news...but you hardly ever hear about kids doing community service for the hell of it or just doing random good deeds. you hear about what black guy did this to that white guy, but not "a local minority aided an old white woman across the street with her groceries today." these are just a few examples of how we all feed off of negativity, shock value, violence, and the like to formulate our views and opinions on such broad topics that really have a lot more to them than what we all see at face value. just because peta shows pictures of abused dogs in puppy mills, cows with their necks snapped and struggling to live and all that jazz doesn't mean there aren't any big meat industries that raise their livestock in a reasonable manner and at least have the decency (if you can call it that) to kill them soundly. don't get me wrong, i see what you're saying and i'm not starting shit or anything of that nature, i'm just speaking on the matter from what i've learned to expound on the discussion. i still think it's disgusting to know that there is a good percentage of the human population that doesn't give a shit about suffering unless it's happening to them. i'd rather be shot in the head a million times or poisoned to death than skinned alive and shown off for a bunch of sick redneck pieces of useless shit to laugh at.
