| ____________________________________ [Mar 13,2005 3:58pm - El Justin ""] ok, so here's my two cents.. DRC: They played their entire set with a cd.. Vesper didn't even play guitar he just sang. It was mostly a lot of new stuff that I hadn't heard/couldn't decipher what it was but it was 10x heavier than their older stuff. It was a great set and definitely interesting like always. The reactions on people's faces after the set were priceless. Carnal: I thought they were really good, but I couldn't hear the guitar or drums much. It's really awesome I got to see these guys just because they are the type of band that is obscure to the point you'd never think you'd get to see them. The vocals had some really great vocals and the drummer looked like he was beating the shit out of his set even though the sound somewhat sucked. Us: We had Darren from Goratory do guest vocals for "Superfluous Anomia" which he does on our new cd, it was really cool. We got our set cut pretty short due to time constraints which sucked, and ended up having to finish halfway through our last song. Raising Kubrick: I was running around a lot outside during their set and missed quite a bit of it. I think they could have turned the bass up a little bit, and the vocals too. Blue shreds that guitar apart, damn. I'd really like to hear recorded versions of their songs because they seem super tight now. Clitorture: Awesome set, I really liked their new song they played. I could hear everything really well too which was a first for the night. They seriously get tighter with each time I see them, if you can believe that. Solid set with lots of new stuff. It is humbling to be on a split with these guys because they rule so hard. Wasteform: Sound was really weird for their set, the drums were un-triggered because Chris was only getting one of them to work so only the cymbals seemed audible. Everything else sounded murky except for the vocals. That new song they have been playing fucking rules though, it's a lot heavier than their other stuff. Good set but short, I'd have liked to have seen another song. Goratory: Holy shit great set. It was really short but they had so much going on. Justin from Retch came out and did the last 2 songs with them (I think "Fuckhole" and Pig Fucker"). Ernie (guitars in Mucopus) also sang "Pig Fucker" with them which was really funny and sounded really good because he knew the vocal patterns and all. They played a flawless set, but it would have been cool to see them play a couple more songs. Anyone video tape this set? Malignancy: I seriously fucking love this band, and last night they probably did the best set I've ever seen them play. These guys are so criminally underrated, they are such amazing musicians. They played 2 news songs which were really good, plus a mix of stuff off of the last 3 cds. Their singer Danny was hillarious too, great front man he is. Internal Suffering: Started out with the lights turned off with that sample from the beginning of "The Chaotic Matrix"cd with the old guy yelling of unfathomable, epic things and then they went right into the first song off that cd. They played a perfect set with a good variety of old and new. Their new guitarist definitely gives the newer songs the more Hate Eternal/Krisiun feel to it which definitely works for them. I was actually surprised they only played about 2 new songs, and played a ton of old stuff even stuff off of "Supreme Knowledge Domain". Epic set with lots and lots of headbanging. I like watching headbanging more than moshing I think. Sounds like the Reverend made out well last night though, because I would compare last night to having sex while sick too. |
| _______________________________ [Mar 14,2005 12:43pm - blue ""] man, what an insanely crappy ride there. had to drive 3+ hours in a crappy snow storm, and then all of a sudden when we hit springfield, it was all pretty and sunny. christ. in traction: not my thing, nu metalcore type stuff. they played in front of 2 or 3 people i think. israfel: no show. drown retarded children: havent seen them since over the summer, and i guess theyre getting a drummer. a lot better than what i remember. the bass player from wasteform had it right, very prosthetic cunt-esque. carnal: damn. so sick. the bass couldve been a lot louder for these guys, but it didnt even matter. their vocals were sooooo good. mucopus: excellent set as usual. i cant wait to get a copy of the full length. their breakdowns are so fucking sweet. us: we were told that we were to share mucopus' equipment due to time restraints. that was fine as far as kris and i were concerned, but moe was kind of at a loss. our set was fine for what it was. people really didnt seem to be digging us that much, though. i guess we werent guttural enough for the show. its all good though. we had a great time regardless. clitorture: fantastic set from them like always, the new song sounded great too. theyd better start playing 'wasted' again soon, or moe and i are gonna start playing it. wasteform: good set from them too. seems like they got a pretty new lineup going, but it sounded really good too. the crowd kind of died after them. goratory: i always love their sets, even if the last couple ive seen of theirs were short as hell. guest vocals all over the place, makes me remember the days past of the dual vocal g-unit. malignancy: when do these guys ever play badly? played 2 new songs which were awesome, and a nice little collection of oldies. ron was having some trouble with one of his pod pros, but it sounded great regardless. they played bag too, so that made me happy. internal suffering: i was all tuckered out, so i watched the set from the side of the stage. it was great. definetly a good cap on the night. more people shouldve stayed around for them. the turnout wasnt as good as i expected, but it was an awesome time regardless. us and the clitorture gang went back to our bling hotel for much of the lus greenery and nightmare on elm street, so a great time was had. thanks so much to tiny from wasteform for putting us on this show, we really appreciate it. |
