I had a good time, I've only seen the Taste of Silver once before (at o'briens) and I liked them alot better this time. What they do reminds me of what Conifer does, only mixed with grind instead of doom. Parts of their stuff goes towards screamo and that doesn't really like me, but the rest of their stuff likes me. I got the new EP. Raising Kubrick played pretty good, the first few songs were lacking bass, but it seemed to correct itself somewhere during their set, maybe when kris headbutted the wall. I was hoping for a new song because I know they have been writing. It was awesome to see the crowd participation for vertical talking, and the other tunes as well. I was impressed with The End, I have their CD from Relapse and listened to a couple of tunes and I think their live set does them more justice, but I plan to listen to that again. Canadians always hold a special place in my hear as it is. These guys were really cool people too. I think I may try to make it to the Feb. 11th show even though I have no idea who those other bands are that they are playing with. Dead to Fall was the worst band I ever booked, over homogenized breakdown after overhomogenized breakdown. Alot of people seemed to be into them, which is cool, but bands like them do nothing for me. A fight broke during their set, which totally sucked, and everyone moshing kept nailing everyone who was just hanging out, and the middle east is so small that there was nowhere for those people to go. I was forced to apologize to the middle east for that band, who apparantly were total pricks to the middle east staff the entire night. Everytime they had a cool riff forming that you could almost get into, BAM!, another breakdown took it away. I don't think I can risk booking another tour like this because the Middle East stressed to me like 10 times about no moshing and I cannot afford to lose places to book at, particularly the Middle East. Go see The End on Feb 11th.
