Books[views:7983][posts:43]________________________________ [Dec 29,2004 5:08pm - retzam ""] There hasn't been a books thread for a while (at least a few months), so I thought I'd make one. I just finished The Lurker At The Threshold by Lovecraft, and now I'm reading The Dirt (hahaha this book is already one of my favorites and I'm only at page 50). What is everyone reading? |

I hope it does the original justice. dugoxistance said:And I hope to get back into my Terry Goodkind books. Fuck yeah! I am looking forward to the 8th installment (wait... 9th?)... The last one was pretty cool in keeping up the tradition of exploring different histories and mythologies, expanding on the mystical elements of the world. I like all the books, but I felt after The Blood Of The Fold, the next 3 or 4 books were a little lacking at times. The Pillars Of Creation was very promising but then got wrapped up way too quickly and conveniently, I was kind of disappointed with that. I just looked at Terry's site, I guess the next book WILL be the 9th full novel, 10th publication if you count Debt Of Bones. |

Fuckers. Richard Rahl is my dad. I feel like I'm more on Nathan's side of the family. I'll read anything Goodkind puts out for the foreseeable future; I don't really see that much blatant Tolkien-ism and I've never read Robert Jordan, so I have no complaints. |

I'm very very proud of my Mom for picking out Get In The Van, cause I don't even listen to Black Flag but I know it's going to be a great book just from my brother opening a random page and reading it out loud, hahaha. The Know-It-All from what I can gather is a memoir written by a guy who tried to read all 32 volumes of the Encyclopaedia Britannica (I don't know if he did it or not, but his dad had also tried it and only got to like halfway through B), and it basically documents the negative/hilarious effects it had on every facet of his life. Sounds good! |
