i remember a murdergod from portland oregon, around '94-95
they played death, black, and grind.

i got to stay at their house once, after a gwar concert. they actually lived with village idiot at the time.

i understand they have 3 demo's. i never heard them, but i saw them live at the old X-ray cafe on burnside. actually i think it was x-rays last show or something.

anyway, if you have copies of their tunes, please share

Revenant-Thrash band I went to school with a few years ago. They were so fucking good and getting mad props from Metal Blade (before the Black Dahlia Murder takeover), but they had to break up for college. I still have their demo.

ASA-Insane thrash band out of Illinois.

Heavenly, the power metal band from France? The first album wasn't so hot, but the later records improved a great deal.

[Jun 22,2006 12:26pm - burnsy ""]
yeah that's them. it reminds of like a much better version of rhapsody but it's about vampires and shit. I agree with the first album not being so good. They're song writing blows my mind now though.

[Jun 22,2006 12:28pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""]
Yes it does. I don't know if I like them better than the first two Rhapsody records (IMO their very best), but everything afterwards, certainly.

[Jun 22,2006 12:32pm - burnsy ""]
haha yeah rhapsody just got to be way too much for me, what with dressing like kings in high school drama club. i mean, musically i can't deny that they're talented but i've noticed that Luca Turilli takes a lot of his solos from classical violin solos.

[Jun 22,2006 12:34pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""]
Yeah, they just got boring, and the new Luca Turilli records (his solo and then his new 'Dreamquest' band) are even worse.

haha yeah i unfortunately picked up that solo luca turilli album a couple years ago that's about like space and distant galaxies and w/e. kinda made my stomach turn.

[Jun 22,2006 12:37pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""]
That was the 2nd Luca Turilli record. Yeah, it wasn't too good.

I don't know how you guys can tell the difference between Rhapsody albums, it all sounds the same to me!

I'll throw into this ego fest The Angelic Process (www.myspace.com/theangelicprocess), everyone (including me) slept on these guys when the record came out a few years ago and now most people are ignoring the reissues, which is a damn shame!. Also Professor Fate (http://www.myspace.com/professorfate1), which is Mick from Anaal Nathrakh pulling an Ulver or Manes. "The Violent" on their Myspace is ridiculous!

The production on the first two Rhapsody albums is crisp and bright, the songwriting was great and memorable, an there was no pervasive sense of 'overproduction'. Of course, this is also when hardly anyone outside Europe listened to them.

The rest of the albums were pretty much dull as fuck, overproduced, and continued to decline in quality, which culminated in the Symphony of Enchanted Lands II which was pretty much a disaster in my opinion, despite Christopher Lee's presence.
