I just meant all the crazy jazz/grind/breakdown stuff with a lot of time signatures, tempo shifting and technicality. Meshuggah, Dillinger, etc. A lot of bands are doing that style. I think some of The Red Chord falls into that category, feel free to disagree. I didn't figure Slipknot for math metal, they certainly don't blow my mind... Just when I was thinking it was going to be your average brutal death/mosh/core stuff, it comes out of nowhere with these dreary melodies, and then I was hooked for the rest of the tracks. Very nice. Best experimental: CRYOSTASIUM Best industrial metal: I don't know any bands and don't like this genre. Best grind: PILLORY Best goth metal: sorry, no. Best drone/doom: ADOLF SATAN Best stoner rock: CWAF (?) maybe i'm wrong in calling them stoner rock, i dont know. also, ABHORRED are one of the best local bands, but they incorporate alot of genres into their songs so I don't really know where to fit them in. |
