porphyia: even though they are too metalcore for RTTP, their set rocked. crappy that they are losing members n stuff. It's also funny that their music seems to change each time I see them. Tim's vocals in a lot of places reminded me of corpsegrinder's later vocals. If you are a guitarist, this band needs you. They were suppose to ask constatly for brutal smoke but failed and the smoke only came out on their last song.

pillory: so... Another hilarious aet from these post-virulent dudes. In the middle of the set, arrowhead calls out who's at the show cause they heard about it on baystate rocks message board. One govnah in the front raises his hand. Then he asks how many from return to the pit message board... Insert crickets... I guess I need to admit defeat. Though a more cromulent question would have been "how many people are here cause they are in bands on the bill?". Anyhow, good set that they plowed through. I think their new CD comes out june 22nd, but if you can't wait, grab the RTTP comp.

burn in silence: they only played 6 songs cause darren hasn't learned more than that (since he's the new drummer). the crowd got very big for them. and people were moshing around.

Wow, thats the first time I've ever heard us compared to Lamb of God or Morbid Angel............ but with that sound we got last night we should have been compared to alot worse. I couldn't make out a note either........ Anyways, thanks for checking us out, and thanks for the pictures.

hehe, Life In Vein.

The sound quality was sub-par, but I enjoyed the show as much as any other. To really hear the 3rd guitar symphony Life In Vain unleashes to the crowd, it helps to have heard the old Life In Vain, before they sold out (I kid)

Best thing to do would be to make it to another show, with better sound, or download some shit off the website.

life in vain: lamb of god, but the trumming was different and there were more guitar riffs that sound like morbid angel.

haha, what are you talking about? all I could hear was In Flames. I don't know why the Life In Vein guys are trashing the sound so bad, most clubs don't even have nearly as much equipment or a soundguy at all. What kind of places are these guys playing, arena's? I don't know about them but we're use to playing shows with just a PA for vocals with maybe kick drum through it. Play the bombshelter and you'll see what bad sound really is.

LIV had no elements of morbid angel at all. All the solo's were melodic scales like In Flames incorporates. There were no death vocals like tucker/vincent or any triplet riffs and retarded trey solo's. The drumming was also very basic just like In Flames, there was no fast double kick, and no blasting.

Never been to this place before, it was actually pretty rad. Kinda packed in the arcade area though. This place could probably host some large metal concerts and international acts but they will probably stick to having 99% nu-metal shows.

Life In Vein: I heard about these guys like 5 years ago or something and hardly ever hear of them playing any shows. I don't know what the deal is with that. I think they might complain about sound too much even when it's really not that bad. haha. I thought they were pretty decent actually but didn't really need 3 guitar players.

Perils Of Reasoning: not really my cup of poop. all I know is that bands who are not iron maiden need to stop having 3 guitar players....

Poo00o0phyria: this was our 4th show as a 4-piece. I guess it's not AS weird anymore but we're sorta getting use to it. This was my 1st attempt at playing the frailties solo with the band and I butchered it, it was hillarious and obvious I never played it before so it's okay, Maybe next time. I tried to do the dive's at the end, but when I couldn't feel my trembar I realized that I forgot to put it on, oops again! hahaha. For some reason they decided to put some gay music video on during our set on all the screens. I wish I had brought a dvd of something. I thought the sound for a big club was actually pretty good onstage for once, usually you can't hear anyone but yourself even when you're standing 2 feet away from the drummer. For some reason I was getting some squealing in some pauses as L.I.V. was too. I know it's not my amp, the soundguy said it has something to do with the monitors. Huge thanks to Chris/Pillory for letting us use his bass rig! And Pete for not stealing my head.

Pillory: had the best idea to play Dead Alive on the screens while they were playing and it was awesome. I thought their mix over the PA was pretty awesome, compared to the natick show especially. I could hear most of what was going on and it was heavy as fuck.

Burn In Silence: I got to see Al/goratory's first show with this band, and now I got to see Darren's first show with them. Seems like a little different for him to be playing this style but it was cool and he seemed to play everything awesome. I can't wait to hear some more newly recorded stuff as I've only heard one track they were working on with Ken about 1000 times when they were tracking guitars. hehehe.

facken palladium show this saturday! everyone go!

oh, and the soundguy said something hillarious to my drummer (dane) "I don't care what anyone says, you guys rocked my world!"

hahahaha!

I'm not complaining about the sound guy at all. He was cool for sure. He was busting ass trying to make things sound right for all the bands. He told me during soundcheck straight out "I'm not prepared for 3 guitars so those aint gonna be pretty" haha. Which is probably why you couldn't hear the 3 guitars. But in the end, If we sounded like shit it was our own fault. It was nice to play a place where the monitors actually work. We are obviously more accustom to playing with only the vocals through the PA. My only complaint was the squeeling Rusted Angel mentioned. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from either........

Back when Life In Vain started up in 1998, I thought they sounded like In Flames too. We called them Life In Flames, but try comparing any life in vain song to an In Flames tune, and you just can't find the similarities.

The band sexes me up, so I'm required to defend them.

why are you defending them against old in flames? there isn't much wrong with the fact that there are many similarities. It's not like I was saying they were playing reroute to remain covers.

We have similarities to old In Flames...... we don't sound like the same band or try to, but the similarities at times do exist. I dont take it as an insult either.

i was late getting to the show so I missed the first two bands, sorry all, sorry i'm late with a review tambien.

porphryar - i need to learn how to spell this sooner or later. i thought they sounded excellent as a 4 piece. monitors sounded fuct, cause i stood close to the stage, about 30 ft back sounded fine. very well rounded band. watched danny most of the time, i'm feeling it, thanks for cd tom!

pillory - sounded pretty damn good as well. couldn't hear dildo's vokills at all. pete was in prime form. one of new england's most talented bands, i really enjoy watching them, i always get something new out of it.

burn in goratory - well after all, i do consider these fuckers to be some of the best friends i got, not totally feeling the whole metal-core thing. but as putrid said brillantly "they are the least gay metal-core band you'll find nowadays" which is sorta true, i guess. i thought they played very very well. especially dildo, for only having two days, even the singer was blown away by his skills! i'll definately be seeing them again, standing in front of the stage yelling pig fucker and telling darren to go smoke hash with me :p good set boyfuckers!

oh and goodtimes is interesting, it's like the fucking ritz carlton ball room in that room, then you got the fucking ufc arena, then you got half of the sommerville pd outside driving around the parking lot. the pizza was cheap and enjoyable. the sound was great but still could be improved. the tv screens were cool only for pillory, if i wasn't stoned i wouldn't have thought it went along with the music so well. i don't see why this place can't have bigger shows there. but like i was saying all night, you take all the people that were there, stick em in o'briens = sell out, put in middle east upstairs = this place is fucking packed, at goodtimes the room is so fucking big REALLY kills the atmosphere. lots of potential there, anyone know how much they charge to book or whatever???

I always thought of it as a good thing too, but most bands don't like being compared to other bands. That was my only real defense. Granted, it's an honor being compared to old in flames. I'm just saying once you listen to them for a while, your opinion might change.

But now that you mention it...mike, you guys should start covering in flames again haha. Play Jotun at the next show.
