whatever the case, anything that happens to assange will set a precedent, and any government's attempt to control the flow of information will fail.

Attitudes like this are the exact reason change has not happened. People need to stand up and start taking action. Sitting back waiting for the "event" pessimistically re-creates the scenario on a loop. Do something about it.

really? an Australian recluse has soley made the US goverment more vulnerable than its been in a long time. a group of pissed of college students have singlehandedly taken down multiple corporate websites in support of assange. we have a war being waged behind computers, and the government is helpless to control it. this is a lesson to be learned for the elite: you can only piss people off for so long before shit hits the fan, and right now, shit is most certainly hitting the fan.

All the military prowess in the world can't hurt the United States. But a few hundred nerds with the odor of mountain dew and cheetos are able to interrupt the financial system of the entire country. This is unprecedented.

you're right. a bunch of uneducated, untrained arabs with nothing but camels, chemicals under their sink and 60 year old guns have killed a few thousand american soldiers. so much for technology.

100% behind this. Net Neutrality is at stake, and to some extent, free speech on a global level.

any website is an easy target for a denial of service attack. they're so easy to pull off and so potentially damaging to a company that i see no reason why they will stop.

the protocols that the transactions use aren't the same as the websites. those you would need actual hackers to get to, and not just denial of service attackers.
