When I think of SGs, I think of beautiful tone meets great playability.

Jacksons are great for wanking and shredding, but atrocious for blues and non-twangy sounding stuff. SGs are a great overall guitar.

It seems like so many guitar companies make such genre-specific instruments, but I think Gibson did really well with making a few guitars that can handle a lot of changes.

I very rarerly indulge myself in a blues based style of playing so jacksons work for me, they're definitely great for metal... serves my purpose

You can sometimes get good deals on jacksons at guitar center... I have a jackson randy rhoadsmodel, 22 frets, floyd rose... Its a good guitar but I like the two other frets.. then I have a 24 fret jackson soloist... free of floyd rose... so I can use the whammy on one, and the other I have two more frets to use... I love both guitars.. the randy rhoads one was about five hundred.. I think the list price is a little more, so its one of the cheaper versions, made in japan... the soloist list is like eleven hundred or more but I got it for five hundred... I saw a sick king v at guitar center for about 6 hundred once

yeah, the king v's are nice, so are the rr models but all the american ones are rediculous for price. i played the soloist the other day and really liked it. where'd you find one of those for 500? it's too bad it's jap. but i think the quality is very good.

Guitar Center Boston.... during one of their special sales... I became enamored with that guitar.. I went in to get strings and picks and left with a guitar, because it was such an amazing deal... It plays like a dream, the smaller set up is good for my friggin fuckin small hands so I can reach and shred nasty

cool, i'll check out guitar center next time i buy my ax. i've been there a few times and they do by far have the best selection. all these little shit guitar shops on the south shore are so expensive. i usually go to daddy's junky music but i find that the equipment there pretty much fits the name. there's always little kids and flap jacks in there getting their grubby hands all over everthing, swinging the guitars around and what not. once i saw a guitar in there with 2 tuners busted off and they were still trying to sell the thing for full price.

Well, you still have to watch out for shit like that there, but they do sometimes have good deals, and definitely the best selection...
I agree that daddy's junky music is just what it sounds like... junky
