2011 NFL Draft thread (Hi Rusty and XMikeX)[views:37791][posts:252]_________________________________ [Apr 27,2011 10:20am - xmikex ""] I'm definitely with you on this. Failed drug tests don't drop your stock by 2 rounds if you have the kind of status Houston and Ballard do. Ballard was already the most under rated DT on the board. For Walt's sake I'm glad the draft is tomorrow. Another week worth of this and he'd be mocking Clyde Drexler and Tugboat to the Pats. |
_________________________________ [Apr 27,2011 10:28am - xmikex ""] The Raiders sold the naming rights to their stadium for a bargain basement $1.2 million a year and will henceforth be playing at the... Overstock.com Colosseum.... hahahahahaha! |
_____________________________________________________ [Apr 27,2011 10:31am - RustyPS should be working ""] Houston at #60 makes way more sense, but I don't even think he drops that far...hell, I didn't even think this positive test would hurt his draft stock at all until I saw that mock this morning Houston's too good of a player, and pot would be a stupid reason to not draft him does anyone knwo if Ballard failed for pot too, or was it something else? |
___________________________________ [Apr 27,2011 2:58pm - Dankill ""] Both those picks of Houston and Ballard would be ridiculous in terms of value. I'd be surprised if both dropped that far AND we drafted them, but hey, Aaron Hernendez was a bottom First/high Second lock until him smoking some blunt dropped him to the fourth round and made him the steal of last year's draft. |
________________________________ [Apr 27,2011 4:19pm - xmikex ""] I don't remember Hernandez being in the 1st round conversation. I remember everyone saying that he was a really talented pass catcher who couldn't block for shit... and anyone who said that was 100% correct. I think he got lost in the whole Florida thing, where there were so many great players stealing the spotlight, which is what drove his stock down so much. Since it's getting so close to crunch time I've decided to do this with the blog... 3 players from every position, 3 short profiles. 1. A guy I don't want. 2. A guy I do want. 3. A guy I'd be satisfied with. I did OT's first: http://patskrieg.com/2011/04/27/zero-hour-threes-offensive-tackle/ Don't Want: Castonzo Rather Have: Sherrod But I'd take: James Carpenter |
__________________________________ [Apr 27,2011 7:05pm - Dankill ""] I still would want to a see a Mike Shea breakdown of J.J. Watt and why you don't like him. Just out of curiosity. |
____________________________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 9:00am - RustyPS should be working ""] WF Draft Morning Update: 17. Wilkerson 28. Ingram 33. Ayers 60. Rackley 74. Houston 92. Gates 125. Jason Pinkston, OT/G, Pittsburgh 159. Skrine 193. Moten My analysis: meh love Ingram, not feeling Ayers, Mike is WAY more of a fan of Wilkerson than I am and I feel better players that fit needs would be available at #17 Houston wouldn't fall that far, Gates is a good pick, and after that, pretty underwhelming |
___________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 9:19am - Dankill ""] Mike, Hernandez was like Brooks Reed. Most people saw him as a high second rounder who snuck into the first from time to time, leading up to the draft. Tonight........IT BEGINS |
_________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 10:36am - xmikex ""] Dan, I'm working on something just for you right now. Rusty, if you're looking for some solace a. I think that's a pretty good draft and b. if history tells us anything allll this hard work is going to goto shit in about 8 hours. |
_________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 10:37am - xmikex ""] also WF isn't loading because all the last minute draft nancys out there are just checking the mocks now. Do your homework ya slapdicks! |
_____________________________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 10:40am - RustyPS should be working ""] hey, I know that's most likely going to be wrong, I was just putting my $0.02 in on what he put. |

Who are more players you guys want to see on there? I have a pretty lengthy list. So far I've been trying to work with just guys I know the Pats have worked out or talked to. But I'm flexible. you don't like Watt, so post a Watt profile I believe I asked first...................................................bitch |
________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 1:44pm - xmikex ""] haha fine you both co-inspired the sloppiest post I've made yet. |
____________________________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 2:39pm - RustyPS should be working ""] WEEI is a breeding ground for retards....a few people have called in saying the Pats should trade up to get Cam Newton [img] |
________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 3:22pm - xmikex ""] God almighty that is infuriating |
___________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 3:33pm - Dankill ""] Good blog update Mike. The Watt profile makes a lot of sense. I think he'll ultimately be a solid player, but in a 4-3. Otherwise, this is one of the reasons why I stopped listening to WEEI. The yahoos there are MUCH worse then 98.5. There is gonna be a ton of angry slapdicks for every fanbase freaking out no matter what their team pick. Tripping over their clownshoes to whine about guys they don't even need. And let's not forget the annual Jets fans booing picks. |

____________________________________________________ [Apr 28,2011 5:25pm - RustyPS should be working ""] Steve from Fall River was just on the Big Show saying Jerod Mayo was not worth being picked #10 overal, and that he's no Lofa Tatupu that's right, he's not Tatupu CAUSE HE'S FUCKING BETTER, YOU FUCKING MORON if I'm ever in Fall River again, I'm hunting Steve down and repeatedly stabbing him in the neck with a dull butter knife until one of us dies |

Brooks Reed Stephen Paea Aakeem Ayers Da'Quan Bowers Marvin Austin Jabaal Sheard Ras-I Dowling Jaiquawn Jarrett Will Rackley Brandon Harris Justin Houston Christian Ballard this is some fucked up bullshit, but it's not over. discuss. |
_____________________________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 11:27am - RustyPS should be working ""] Michael Smith made a good point on the Worldwide Leader this morning. He said that he believes the Pats will stand pat at #33 because in order to get the proper value for that pick, they would need to get a 1st rounder next year. Considering they will already have 2 1sts next year, 3 would just be fopolish. I tend to agree with that. That being said, they're probably gonna take Colin Kaepernick, which will cause a sharp incrase in the sales of rope in the NE area tomorrow |
_____________________________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 11:28am - RustyPS should be working ""] fopolish? ENGRISH ES HAHD |

____________________________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 1:04pm - RustyPS should be working ""] I'll make a case for Houston bennyhillifier This video exhibits 99% of his strengths: high motor, nice speed off the edge, the ability to play on both sides of the formation effectively, the ability to bull rush, a fantastic nose for the ball (notice him force a fumble and be one of the first ones to fall on it, as well as not fall for a PA fake on the very next highlight), having the presence of mind to be able to recognize a play and adjust while still going full speed, giving him the opportunity to make a play there are a few plays there where he goes too wide taking himself almost completely out of the play, but on some of those plays if not all, the QB is very conscious that he's coming and moves around in the pocket uncomfortably, which forces bad throws and one thing that's NOT in that video is that he has a lot of experience dropping into coverage, which can't be said for 99% of the rush LB prospects that come out of college I REALLY like this guy, and if you have to move around to get him, so be it |
________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 1:43pm - xmikex ""] haha I just posted my day 2 blog: http://patskrieg.com/2011/04/29/i-hear-you...out-where-the-fuck-we-go-from-here/ With the exact same clip as a reference, and said that he doesn't do anything but try and run around the OT 90% of the time. Let me adjust for Rusty-ism. |
____________________________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 1:59pm - RustyPS should be working ""] lol, thanks for taking my opinion on the guy into consideration in your post I will say this, Cunningham did not have a polished repetoire of pass rushing moves either, but by the end of last season, he started to look like he might become the real deal |
________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 2:28pm - xmikex ""] PFT has the Pats going Reed, Ryan Williams (booo), and Marcus Gilchrist who I was very high on at the Combine. He didn't have huge stats but he's been quietly climbing into 2nd round consideration. |
____________________________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 6:11pm - RustyPS should be working ""] RAS-I DOWLING now we're talking |
________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 6:15pm - xmikex ""] He's a guy who belongs on the Pats. Team leader, big physical presence in the secondary, solid ball skills. It's such a risky pick though with his constant injuries. |
____________________________________________________ [Apr 29,2011 6:25pm - RustyPS should be working ""] but think about it...McCourty, a healthy Bodden, Dowling, and Butler is still young enough to turn it around...that's a very formidable dime package |
