Beleive me, you missed nothing. Iced Earth was good. |

__________________________________ [May 2,2004 2:19am - easyed_69 ""] ahhhh dude, I'm so pissed off about the black out because blood has been shed cancelled, and the rest of the bands that played had to play shorter sets to catch up to the schedule. Yeah, that fight that broke out in the parking lot was funny to watch, cause some big dude was filming the whole thing and ended up punching one of the girls in the face. Oh, and Terror kicked so much ass. Every time they've come around Boston, I've always ended up missing them, but I finally saw them and I wasn't disappointed. Oh, and btw, thanks Rev for taking some awesome pics of MPB. You seemed to get the pics right before I was about to get my ass kicked. [img] I'm in the white btw, about to get stomped on and I fucked up my knee. It sucked, but fun nonetheless |
______________________________________ [May 2,2004 2:56am - scar culture ""] thanks again. sucked about the short sets but what ya gonna do! the fest was a blast none the less. |
_________________________________ [May 2,2004 4:48am - Aegathis ""] Iced earth was the best band tonight!! |
______________________________ [May 2,2004 5:40am - moran ""] My friend called to tell the power went out. Serves the place right for putting on such a terrible show. I had more fun sitting at a bar and watching the Red Sox lose two games in one day. |
_____________________________________ [May 2,2004 5:47am - the_reverend ""] first stage what weapons bring war: the crowd was just getting in for them. they started right when the doors opened. A crowd of friends rushed in. it was great to see them. I saw dave's white bass sitting there and figured I'd be ducking a flying bass, but it didn't happen. he threw it at the back of the stage. didn't even swing it around at all. glass casket: I had a discussion whether or not glass casket sounded more like btbam or coverge-ish. After seeing them live, it sounds more like converge, but there are parts that the singer talks through. I had been upset cause their last tour didn't come through this was, but they played nemhf and they are coming back. since the flood: moved form the second stage late to the first stage early. good thing too as toby needed to leave early to make it to his mom's wedding! this was their first time hitting one of these stages. they put out a lot of energy. all the 603 kids in the pit went nuts and jumped up to sing along. they even had time to do cover song. misery signals: their live set has gotten a lot different over their 2 years. they definitly knew how to own that stage. martyr ad: little rob g could have been out drumming and touring with them. a lot of the kids in the audience seemed to know all the words. I'm not familiar enough to know from the CD. cannae: dan's last show I guess... I'm not sure though cause they are going off to ohio on tour. they sounded awesome. totally in their element down there. and is that a the_network shirt I see? maybe they'll bust out a fault song. Black out!!!!!!: what were you doing during the blackout of nemhf 2004? evergreen terrace/scarlet started to set up, then *snap* went the power. completely out. At first everyone was just kicked out of the upstairs.. then downstairs and everyone was out on the streets. A bunch of the hardcore kids started to play dodgeball which reminded me of that south park episode. After 3 hours of lounging in and out of the sun, walking around the building a bunch of times, making fun of uranium, trips to the mall, watching all that remains playing frisbee, and more... the power mysteriously came back on. This basically cut down all the bands sets and with 3 cancellation (blood has been shed, speedkillhate, and evergrey), they went mostly back onto scedule. it made it very hard for a while there when were 15-minute sets. I was running from stage to stage for a whle there, even more than usually... it made me miss most songs of a lot of amazing bands though... back to the band reviews... evergreen terrace: I've always liked these guys. a lot of stage presense and sense of humor. you can definitly tell that from the fact that they cover U2. misery index: last time I saw this band on that same stage, they were still new and didn;t know what to do up there. now, they move around an aweful lot and it makes the show so good. bury your dead: from what you can see, there are a lot of 603 and mass kids rocking and rolling in the audience. kataklysm: not much time for their set. though they played older tracks. I mean... they played in shadows and dust so how can you complain? walls of jericho: damn it! I was ustairs too long at terror so I got down to get 1 1/2 songs from woj. that one song will have to fill me until they come back. their songs are so short on cd and such epics live. between the buried and me: anyone notice the drummer messing up on the track mordecai? I was singing a long so I got that. I was singing a long so I caught it. diecast: ok, saw whatever you want about them, but their live show was pretty awesome. and guess what? I know a lot more diecast songs than I knew I did. I like the new singer better. His clean singing voice is a lot more raw then the old singer so I can take them. with the short set, they still ended with a cover over reign in blood complete with all the sound effects too. there was some huge fight as all the security guards jumped into the crowd. at one point a guy popped up from the crowd like 10 feet and landed at the from of the crowd. throwdown: I stil don't really like them (I'd rather listen to terror or hatebreed), but their live shows full of a lot of energy. zao: finally getting to see these guys. damn, about time. I'm sadly, I'm not sure which singer they are one now, but it sounded a lot like the old stuff. they also didn't play stuff from that rock-crap cd. bleeding through: what can you say about their set? they are awesome and go by sooooo quickly. Also, I get addicated to their cds after seeing them live. children of bodom: they came in with a dr. dimento song. the sound was pristin for them. it was all 100% absolutely on and all mixed right. weird, there were actually fights. iced earth: decent live. I really do not like most of their tracks, but the live show was killer. EVERYONE in the audience was singing a long and i mean EVERYONE. it was power metal, but patriotic. the guitrist (john) sent "green face" out to all the troops. the echos on the singers vocals where hillarious. they were having problems with the computer so they couple play the last track. then they played some other tracks, but I left. second stage the autumn offering: I ran upstairs to catch a few songs by these guys. they were pretty awesome. Reminded me a little of the bled mixed with love is red. through the discipline: I listened to their MP3s a long time ago when they posted them on this board. I've been waiting to see them (almost drove 4 hours to see them once). the sounded great. old school metal riffs all over. love is red: even though they were put up against STF on the other stage, thier crowd was pretty damn violent. It's nice seeing them not on a stage at a fest playing before the doors are open. to the grave: the new songs on the new CD are longer. I love seeing the singer doing kicks all over the stage. twelve tribes: I've only heard of these guys a little before. never heard them. the singer had some crazy dreds. embrace today: like most other ET shows, they were pretty tight which you'd expect from them. anyone else find it funny that the singer told people from the bar to come up, but then went off about edge? eh, I gets edge kids could be there drinking water/soda. scarlet: long time to set up even after the black out. the singer did his usual thing of covering up people's camera's while they are trying to take pictures. they started off and it was a wall of sound. a very punishing bang some times. one of their last songs was carbon copy killer, one of their best tracks. did they have a new guitarist? scar culture: I got back up and basically only caught one track from them. they are awesome, check the limited pictures I could get. 100 demons: damn, their pits are always violent. I'm not sure how many people got pulled out, but I saw some security pulling them out. they played some new songs. after listening to the cd a few times, they are definitly harder and heavier live. I think the singer was really into the music, so much I think he had goose-bumps while singing. the comeback kid: pulling in a younger "american nightmare" crowd, they had the audience rolling al over each other. it really reminded me of the AN show there. terror: take the comback kid audience and add the 100 demons audience and there you got it. a ton of people dancing very violently and having a great time doing it. terro doesn't come around here very often, but when they do, they get a killer response. I think that someone needs to do another ramallah/terror show. pig destroyer: 3 years, 3 metalfest on that stage. basically the only time that anyone around here gets to see them unless they are driving to ny or nj. they messed up a few times cause of the drummer. if they played AnB songs after I left... I'll be pissed. |
____________________________________________ [May 2,2004 7:17am - theundergroundscene ""] That's funny, this show was so terrible, yet I and like 2000 other people had a great time. As for the blackout, what can you do? It's not like the venue had any control over it, and a couple other places were without power too. I think I was the only person that didn't eat something during the blackout, haha. I wanted to go to Pub 99 but all my friends had already eaten, so then I went over to a bar with Mike Hsu from WAAF and Phil from All That Remains, then when I came back we played football haha. I certainly didn't want to be standing there but like I said, what can you do? Oh yeah and I got yelled at by one of Juliya's entourage for taking pictures haha... |
________________________________________ [May 2,2004 8:47am - filterofsyntax ""] During the blackout I played wiffleball in the parking lot near the broken bulding. |
_________________________________ [May 2,2004 8:58am - Lynneaus ""] a couple o facts about things... the black out was an electrical problem w/ Mass electric.... a lot of ppl thought it wasnt true because other places around had power... but there were other parts of worcester that didnt have power... remember the old fire station down the street? the palladium was switched to that grid so that when power went out it would get fixed right away... with the station gone apparently it doesnt get fixed as fast.... but trust me everyone... including the detail officers were doing everything they could to get it fixed as fast as they could. SpeedKillHate cancelled before the fest even started day one.... im not sure why... but my friend told me friday mornin when he got here they werent playing. Children of Bodoms bus broke down in CT... Evergrey sacrificed their bus so COB could make it... i would have rather seen Evergrey :( at this years fest i watched a total of 4 bands entire sets. eh i like metal fest weekend but man i hope next year there are some bands i really want to see |
_________________________________ [May 2,2004 9:07am - joe_shmo ""] Their fualt or not, the Palladium has always has electrical problems. They need to get off their lazy asses and get those problems fixed. Fuck man! It's been 4 years and they still are having black outs. I saw Moonspell there when they first toured america and the power cut out on them something like 6 times, a pal of mine who was there video taped the whole thing. That same friend went there to see Nightwish a couple of years ago and the power cut out on them too. Fuck The Palladium. |
_________________________________ [May 2,2004 9:53am - Lynneaus ""] maybe you should know what you are talking about before you bash the place.... they had electricians come in and rewire the stuff earlier in the year just so that the breaker wouldnt overheat and switchoff during metal fest |
__________________________________ [May 2,2004 10:02am - succubus ""] more facts from moi: aaron (the_reverend) and i didn't eat during the blackout either. First we tried to go into a pub but they may have lost power too, and then we ordered something and were going to walk back and eat it by the palladium but as we were walking back, we got the call that the power was back..i had a few bites in between bands after the fact. it was really nice of them (to say the least~Evergrey~for sacrificing their tour bus...i told aaron right after you told me that yesterday Lynne. Sucks that they couldn't share. Juliya tried to molest my little brother so aaron and i couldn't find him during the blackout! once again asking people to do portrait shots was a lot of fun..no one said no...except that Brian (Shadows Falls) and his gf were drinking and wanted to finish their drinks first...and i didn't catch them after that. i will add that Rachel (Most precious blood) is the best and so nice, every time i see her, it's like we're old friends...she rules. |
__________________________________ [May 2,2004 10:06am - succubus ""] oh yeah..rather than me continiously editing..i don't see how the outage was the palladium's fault..it made it an interesting event and aaron thank you for helping me<3 |
______________________________________ [May 2,2004 10:36am - swamplorddvm ""] the kids who started fights were complete cowards. THEY PULLED THE GUYS HAIR!!! So gay. Anyway, it was lovely chatting with the rev and succubus again and Bodom was holy shit amazing. |
___________________________________ [May 2,2004 10:49am - JellyFish ""] Whoops, last one was me. |
_____________________________________________ [May 2,2004 11:14am - theundergroundscene ""] Honestly, I've been going to shows at the Palladium for the last three years, like, A LOT, and this is the first time I've EVER seen the power go out like that. Maybe for a minute or two once or twice (in three years), but nothing like that. I guess there was an article about the blackout in today's Worcester Telegram and Gazette (haven't seen the paper yet) because my mom was asking me about it a little while ago. Apparently over 100 households and businesses in the area lost power. The Palladium just happened to be one of them... |
______________________________________ [May 2,2004 11:24am - the_reverend ""] I found the gazette's web site... man falls out of rollarcoaster: http://www.telegram.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040502/APN/405020510 I found articles online about the perfect circle show and some other bs... but no black out article. |
_____________________________________________ [May 2,2004 11:50am - theundergroundscene ""] Right because it's in the actual newspaper... |
__________________________________________ [May 2,2004 12:51pm - intricateprocess ""] the power outage definatley sucked....oh well, what are you gonna do......shit happens. i think the palladium sucks too...........but i cant really complain too much because guess what? they are like on of the only places that books shows around, and can hold a pretty decent size crowd to bring in big headlining bands...... i was pretty bummed that ed gein cancelled.....but at least psyopus played.... |
_________________________________ [May 2,2004 1:16pm - succubus ""] i don't understand why people seem pissed at the palladium or why they are getting bitched out ...when they put on a lot of shows... |
_____________________________________ [May 2,2004 1:18pm - the_reverend ""] I must say, the staff at the palladium did an awesome job. there were tons of issues with things breaking down, power going out, bands cnncelling, computers not working, people bitching about retarded things, etc... all the people that put this fest on made it run pretty damn smoothly around all the issues. Sylvia, Scott Lee, Leah, and everyone else running the doors and stuff made sure that things went excellently. so the power issue wasn't the palladium's fault. so we were all forced to kick around for 3 hours and get sun instead of being at home writing in our live journals about how cool wendy's is or figuring out through tests which smurf, snork, or emotion you are. the show must go on and I for one got to see a shit load of awesome bands. |
_________________________________ [May 2,2004 1:21pm - succubus ""] yes what aaron said ps to aaron: i heard that noise |
