I agree that politics in music can not only be quickly outdated, but often come across as preachy and defy the mood I'm in. however, I think what you said actually proves WHY there IS politics in music. These people think what they are writing about is so important that it can't wait till you read the paper. They want you thinking about it and acting now, because it's something that might have an immediacy to it. Granted, not every song about every political topic is really that urgent, but that's the mentality behind it -- hear a good song, and learn something while you're at it. This is why The Smiths released "Meat Is Murder". |

Plus the fact that they have been around since 85 without selling out, and man they had the opportunity to, this makes them the best grind band ever. When I discover them when I was 15, that was a relief, I was into deah metal at the time and was going at shows a lot, and had to deal with a lot of bullshit from guys so after a while I got sick of it, then I listen to Agathocles, saw them live and I can thank them cause without them I wouldn't have discover grindcore/crust. They played on the same bill with Entombed and Napalm Death in Eindhoven (Holland) in 89... They deserve respect really, never fucking sell out! This is fucking metal for you. |
