no problem man. You guys were fucking AWESOME!!! I just feel bad that more of the people who were there to see us didnt stick around for you guys. its just that they were just there coz theyre are friends. hardly any of them were actual metal fans

That was fun - wicked all-ages metal, but fun.
First off, the sound was pretty crap. I don't know if it was the equipment or the guy running the board, but most of the time all you could hear was double bass, and all the levels were wicked uneven. So it's hard to get a good idea of what the bands would sound like with better sound.

Volatile were cool, pretty rough around the edges, but it's great to see kids that young playing Venom and Slayer covers. And huge fucking balls on that kid for getting up there and doing the falsetto vox, keep up with that shit.

Throwing Shrapnel were Throwing Shrapnel, if you like them you would've liked them, and if not, then not. They did a good set, I thought. I like watching these guys play.

The Bludgeoning I was having a hard time with. I liked the shit they had on MySpace, but live it just didn't seem like they were all on the same page as a band. Could've been the sound, could've been just an off night for them, I don't know. The singer has great presence, though. And it was pretty rough when all the kids left afterwards, but that happens, what can you do?

Hatchet were cool. Solid set, especially with a new guitar player, and they were cool as hell about playing to 15 people after most of the crowd left. Sound problems again, unfortunately - the right-hand guitar player was way drowning everyone else out, and the bass player ended up playing half the show with his bass unplugged - he looked really confused as to why there was no sound coming out at one point. I'd be psyched to see these guys again in a better environment.

Great to see an all-ages venue doing metal, and the room was cool. Someone probably could've done pretty well selling water or soda, but I suppose that'd cut into Clark's bank. Plus, I wouldn't have gotten to hear the dude doing acoustic Foo Fighters songs in the bistro when I was on a hydration mission. Hope to see more shows here.

Oh, and the bass player from The Bludgeoning looks exactly like Chuck Dukowski from Black Flag. Which is awesome.

That's strange, because I could hear the bass through the monitor the entire time we were playing. I was only confused after the set when someone said to play it again with the bass plugged in....I turned up twice during the set. The bass was plugged in, because I unplugged it and powered down after we played?!?

I dunno, I only noticed during the last song that it was definitely sans cord... Like I said, with the sound in that place it was tough to hear what was going on. You guys were mi-t-fine, though.

Oh, and this show definitely lived up to its name - one of you bastards managed to get me sick. Just what I wanted for this weekend.

That must be it, during that last song. Oh well. I'll wrap that cord up tomorrow night at the Bomb Shelter gig.

The sound down in that space doesnt really get much better than that. We've had sound problems their a lot worse than we had last night. personally i thought everything sounded pretty good.

I think we sound a lot better than the stuff on myspace just coz now we have a real drummer and not a damn machine like in those songs. I thought we played ok and were pretty much on the same page (although i think im confused abotu what you are meaning by 'on the same page' ) ecxept on one song but its not really for me to judge though is it. : )

and thanks for sayin i looks like Chuck Dukowski! thats a mega complement!!

The Bludgeoning kicks ass. When I listen to the demo sometimes I get more of a Venom/early Voivod/Impaled Nazarene vibe than when I see them live, but live it's got all the entertainment factor and a real good time.

I'll be looking you guys up when I launch my label, I'm doing a comp as one of my first releases after the RAKUN double-album.

thanks for the words scott. we appreciate the support. I think you're right we sound different live than on the demos. hopefully that discrepacy will vanish when we finish the demo with our actual live lineup (that demo is just matt and I when we was "Hail Plankton")

And you're exactly right ww&w. That place could be a GREAT place for shows if more metalheads in the area knew about it. Hopefully it will be better when I book a show or two there on an actual weekend night next semester. I was glad that clarkies showed up for us but wish there had been more folks there to see the other great performances.

ive got to make sure to keep in touch with folks at Clark after I graduate so I continue to book the occasional show there. Im friends with plenty of underclassmen so I should at least be able to for a few years
