Lamb Of God / Fear Factory / Children Of Bodom / Throwdown TONIGHT[views:27896][posts:106]the Palladium (Worcester, Ma) - [children_of_bodom][fear_factory][lamb_of_god][randomshots] [show listing] ___________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 11:15am - bigpappi ""] that was a sick show, Fear Factory suprised me, there set sounded awesome, and LOG and COB are incredible \M/ |
_______________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 11:26am - the_reverend ""] throwdown didn't play. they had the wheel of their van explode and were stuck in CT. children of bodom: so with out throwdown playing, COB were told they could play longer... but they DIDN'T! the still only played 6 songs... I was pissed!~ yeah yeah, they probably didn't rehurse other songs, but they still could have busted out some of the songs from the new ep they are releasing at the end of this month.. or maybe a cover. anyhow, they played awesome. I'm always inpressed by cob. they are so tight live, playing insanly well and still loking like they are having the best time playing. fear factory: after a long set up time, they came out. no synth player though. for the most part, they played older (good) songs. I totally forgot about their cd obsolete... there are some ok tracks on that cd. they played a couple tracks from soul of the new machine. the best song they played was martyr. I sort of wishes they would have stopped there, becuase I didn't dig scapegoat which they did after that. then they slipped into the nu-metal fear factory that has polluted the new cds. I was a big fan of the first 2 cds when I was young, not the new stuff. they ended with republica, but I couldn't hear the vocals at all. lamb of god: yes, randy was beyond hammered, but that made it hilarious. he sent out 2 songs to scoot (ogre) lee and the nemhf. anyhow, after all the tours, big labels and all, they are still the same band and the same guys. with 3 full lengths as LOG (and 1 as burn the priest) they have plenty of material to fill over and hour set. their set was awesome and filled with a bunch of MA/CT "stars" that came out on stage. during on of the songs, brian from shadows fall came out grabbed a mic and then jumped into the audience and howard (bhbs/kse) ran out and carried randy around the stage. towards the last part of their set, rev steve austin (today is the day) came out and sang with them too. he looked a little lost without his guitar, but it was cool that they had him come out. the last song went out to Unearth. |

______________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 1:00pm - whatthehell ""] 3rd time ive seen bodom...and this was by far the worst. the mix was absolutely awful you could barely hear vocals the solos on guitar didnt cut through. they played the same songs that they played every other time ive seen em on tour. what a disappointment. oh yeah the crowd was pretty lame. all the 13 year olds were out cause they didnt have school in the morning and all the dads with there slipknot shirts was pretty lame. oh yeah all you air guitar players and air drummers. youre not in the band, leave it in the closet with your sexuality. peace |
______________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 1:14pm - the_reverend ""] whatthehell: funiest review ever.. I see your points about cob. that's what I mentioned about then not playing anything new. though as for sound quality, I was listening to the monitors, but thier sounded so much better than ff or log. the sound guy had the low ends cranked for ff and log. you could basically only hear triggers for most of ff's set. |

_____________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 2:11pm - sacreligion ""] i only got to see fear factory and about 7/8 of lamb of god cuz i had to work...but this show kicked my ass anyway. does anyone remember what they played after the BTP song? that's when i had to leave...unfortunately |
____________________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 2:24pm - TerribleNightSteve ""] I thought the COB sound was terrible, but I was in the balcony. I'm pissed I only saw them play 2 songs. Fear Factory was awesome. Great set. |
_____________________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 4:08pm - MarkFuckingRichards ""] i didn't push myself to get there in time to see bodom, mainly since i've seen them 3 times already, and if i've seen em once i've seen them a hundred times. they're an awesome band and play extremely well live, but i get bored seeing the same set over and over again. i've been wanting to see fear factory for a while now. i think the only bad cd they released was digimortal, and even that had a few strong points. they definitely played an awesome set. the fog was a bit much, but i enjoyed myself. hearing old school shit was the coolest part. lamb of god always puts on an awesome show. i've gotten into the new cd heavily the past few weeks, so hearing the new shit live was awesome. the wall of death during "black label" was fucking weak though. i wanted to see all out mayhem, but i guess most of the crowd hasn't been exposed to it enough yet. the circle pit was probably the closest thing to a real circle pit i've ever seen in MA. on a side note... nu-metal kids and "new jacks", et al. are looked down upon the most in the metal/hardcore scene, and with good reason for the most part, but seeing how much fun they have and how into it they are i think is awesome. i saw everyone get punched in the face, kicked, elbowed, tossed around and just utterly beaten to death, and the ONLY kids that got pissed were the HARDCORE kids...that doesn't make any sense. i love hardcore as much as metal, and i know a lot of cool "hardcore kids," but after close observation, it has come to my conclusion that some of the "toughest" hardcore kids are probably the biggest pussies ever...or at least the biggest hypocritical whiny school girls ever. tons of people have already made this conviction, but this takes the cake. a bunch of nu metal kids flailing around and hitting one another is fine, but the second some pseudo tough guy so as gets touched, he/she beats the shit out of them for simply having a good time. i don't like talking shit, pointing fingers or categorizing people, but i just had to state this observation. it's pretty damn sad. |
________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 6:00pm - retzam ""] Throwdown weren't there, fucking awesome!!! Children Of Bodom were dissapointing. I missed them the last two times they've come around, so I was really looking forward to it. I was pretty much right in the center of the floor maybe 4 rows (pfff, they weren't rows) of people from the front the whole time. First of all, I'd like to point out that I was expecting a really fucking good set, cause 1)Throwdown wasn't there, and 2)I don't think you guys realize the crazy stuff they've been doing on this tour. They've been changing their set around so much, and songs that have appeared include Children Of Bodom, Bed Of Razors, Trashed Lost And Strungout, Towards Dead End, and Warheart. We got the fucking shitty set: Needled 24/7, Bodom Beach Terror, Sixpounder, Everytime I Die, Hate Crew Deathroll, Downfall, Hate Me. Granted, there are some cool songs in there, but when you are only playing 7 songs, having 4 of them be off the most recent album is kind of shitty, and I think Everytime I Die has been in their set way too long. Plus, for the first few songs you could barely hear Alexi's guitar and Janne's keyboard. The last three songs were the best I suppose, but maybe next time they come around they'll get on a tour that they can headline and play some songs. Fear Factory, eh, not really a fan, they seem to have progressed from watered down death metal to nu-metalish type shit, but I think the latter of which came out great live. Lamb Of God were awesome, definitely great. I thought the sound for them was almost perfect, and the set was fucking amazing. There is no way I'm going to remember the order, but some stuff they played was Laid To Rest, Hourglass, Now You've Got Something To Die For, 11th Hour, Ruin, Vigil, Terror And Hubris In The House Of Frank Polard, The Subtle Arts Of Murder And Persuasion, The Faded Line, Bloodletting, and Black Label. Awesome, and plus Randy opted to abstain from the signing table and instead hung out outside in the rain signing tickets and taking pictures with whoever was interested. Great show. |
______________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 7:03pm - whatthehell ""] for cob i was on the floor....the mix sounded to bassy/muddy? i guess that how i would describe it. they sounded better last time. for FF and LOG i want to the back of the place near the bar and i thought FF sounded ok. 3rd time ive seen em, and i wasnt disappointed. they had a better mix than last time i saw em (with dino) i thought that PA was going to explode from all the low end. and LOG....i saw like 4 songs and left. sounded like they kept playing the same song over and over. did anyone else notice the lead singer introduce 2 songs the same way...back to back...."blah blah blah scott lee, metalfest blah blah blah" i thought i was having dejavu so i left.....oh yeah the metalfest this year sucked a big one...killswitch is gay....so is metalcore...so is this guy:stupidflanders: |

Hahahahaha yeah, i noticed that with Fear Factory. I was way at the back when they started, like behind the merch stand and it was pretty bassy, and by the time I was to the edge of the floor my whole body was fucking vibrating. |
____________________________________ [Oct 16,2004 11:19pm - kell nli ""] i had tons of fun, but i couldn't find any of you kids there! probably mostly because i was by the bar for the most part. but i did run into my keyboard player, Julie, which was good, because i thought i missed band practice. I also very quickly ran into Steve from ATNFAC and his loverly lady Jackie. I think I was walking out of the pisser. I love CoB. they are so super good. they are basically why i went there, but Fear Factory rocked too. I enjoyed the "Yankees Suck" chants. |

And I was wearing my Teratism shirt and someone came up to me and told me he was playing with Teratism the next night. Craziness. Actually a lot of people asked me about the band and where they're from, etc. Teratism should have paid me for all that advertising! |
