i always thought this one was too spicy.

found a really great holiday beer (it's more of an ESB than a winter warmer according to BA) by gritty mcduff's from maine:

La Fin Du Monde really is made of epic and win, bottled and fermented. Big fan of the Long Trail family of beers, as well.

I think this is my favorite Sam Adams variety. It's really exceptionally good for them. Alot of their beers I would rate as so-so.

I'm a fan overall, but I'm hearing that from a lot of folks that don't usually like Sam - the Winter Lager seems to win them over.

I mean I appreciate Sam as better than average beer don't get me wrong. I just feel that alot of their varieties do not really justify the price tag. Sam Summer is also very good. And the Light is probably the best light beer out there.

I try to have fairly good taste with beers. My dad made sure to instill that in me at a young age.

In my fridge right now, I've got:

holy shit! i had that stuff a few months back! potent as fuck (12% ABV) and strong coffee tones to smoothen the alcohol. definitely a good grab for the coming winter.

tobias boon said:Sam summer is also very good.

seriously? despite its drinkability i thought the mouthfeel was horrendous and lemon zest finish was swilly-nilly. harpoon summer is where its at.

anyone ever been to the Sam Adams or Harpoon breweries? i'm moving to JP soon and I'm pumped to go to the Sam Adams one now.

Harpoon Summer is much better but I wouldn't call anything about the Sam Adams Summer horrendous. I don't know what swilly-nilly means so I can't comment on that. As I said before, it's a very good beer, not amazing.

i just agree with your point that its not really worth the price tag. if i were going to drop dough on sam adams i'd go for anything out of the brewmaster's collection (brown ale and black lager especially).

straight up, sam summer's a chick beer.

[Dec 5,2007 5:27pm - tobias boon  ""]
Ha

K I totally disagree with that because the Harpoon Summer is way smoother and easier to drink so if anything that is a "chick" beer. Both of them are good; Harpoon is better, whatever.

maybe i'm just biased because i'd prefer a porter over a pale, pale wheat ale any day of the year.

I was JUST going to post this, one of the best tasting beers i've ever had. Corsendonk is great like davefromthegrave said. Goldenmonkey is potent shit and has some different tasting spices in it. I love most all Hefeweizens. I've had a lot of different beers because I used to live with an alcoholic who rarely drank the same thing twice.

truth. i brought like 16 of them to the basement show we played in allston. i think most of the compliments we got were because of the beer, hah. also, i need to try that supplication ale. i never seem to see it at the local "nice" liquor store, though.

nah, this is my first foray into the world of lambics. i love the flavor of raspberries, so i think the framboise is next on my list when it comes to this style.

It comes in cans now, too. So I guess that would be the official light beer of a white trash wedding.

I thik the only light beer that deserves the suck tag is either bud light or ultralight beers
