I liked the first album a lot, reminded me of Fates Warning or something. I forget the name of the band, but Petrucci had some side project a friend of mine played me that was really good stuff. It was one of those supergroup type bands. He's burning me a copy, so I'm sure that will make regular rotation in my car for a while. |

But if we were to give Rhoads credit for innovation, he definitely was going off the beaten path for the entire length of his (unduly so ) shortened career, whereas Zakk took inspiration of other players and maybe expanded on it. That said, I personally prefer anything done by Rhoads over anything Zakk W has ever done but that's a matter of taste. |
